Drone Camera
============
A script-only camera mod for recording videos in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, game version 5. 0
(the current "next-gen" release). No .asi loader or DLL required.
Fly a camera drone freely through the world while everything keeps moving, or let the drone
fly smooth, cinematic camera moves around Geralt on its own while you keep playing. Movement
eases in and out like a real camera drone, so even keyboard and mouse give steady,
film-like footage. The HUD is hidden while the drone is active.
Unlike the game's Photo Mode (U), the world does not pause: NPCs walk, weather moves,
fights go on.
FREE DRONE (F2)
---------------
Press F2: the drone starts exactly where the game camera is. Press F2 again and the view
glides back to the normal camera.
W A S D fly (forward flies where you look)
Mouse look around
Space / C fly up / down
Shift (hold) fly 3x faster
Mouse wheel flying speed slower / faster
Caps Lock tripod (see below)
A gamepad's sticks also fly and look; the keys above are still needed for the rest.
Geralt stands still while you fly the drone. The drone can fly through walls and the
ground, so you can line up any shot.
TRIPOD (Caps Lock, while flying)
The drone stops where it is and smoothly keeps Geralt in frame, and you control Geralt
again. Place the camera, then walk, ride or fight through the shot. Press Caps Lock again
to fly the drone again.
AUTOMATIC SHOTS (F3, F4, F6, F7)
--------------------------------
The drone flies these moves by itself, always framing Geralt, while you keep playing.
Press the same key again to stop, or another shot key to move smoothly into that shot.
F3 Orbit a slow circle around Geralt with a gentle rise and fall
F4 Crane reveal starts close in front of his face, then pulls back and rises
into a wide aerial shot over 14 seconds, and keeps drifting
F6 Follow a chase drone behind and above him that turns with him lazily;
wider on horseback, great for walking and riding shots
F7 Flyby sweeps past him, slowing down and climbing at both ends, then
sweeps back
The automatic shots steer clear of walls and the ground. While a shot (or the tripod)
is running, Geralt's movement keys work relative to the drone's view, so they turn with
the camera during an orbit. Follow is the most natural shot for moving around.
Dialogues and cutscenes end the drone automatically, since they need the HUD for
dialogue choices.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
- The Witcher 3 version 5. 0 (tested with DirectX 12).
- Mods must be enabled in REDlauncher. If the "Mods" option in the game's settings
is greyed out, open REDlauncher, go to The Witcher 3's settings and enable mods.
(This is stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\CD Projekt Red\REDlauncher\config\launcher.ini
as <your id>\witcher3=true under .)
INSTALLATION
------------
1. Close the game.
2. Copy the "mods" folder from this archive into your Witcher 3 installation folder,
so you end up with:
<Witcher 3>\mods\modDroneCamera\content\scripts\local\droneCamera.ws
3. Add the key bindings: double-click Install-Keybinds.bat. A small window opens with the
default keys. To change one, click its box and press the key or mouse button you want
(middle and side buttons work). "None" leaves it unbound. If the key already does
something in the game, the window says what. Click Save.
It edits Documents\The Witcher 3\input.settings and saves a backup next to it
(input.settings.fdc-<date>.bak). Run it again at any time to change the keys.
4. Start the game. The first start takes a little longer while the game compiles scripts.
Just run step 3 again if that happens.
CONSOLE COMMANDS (optional)
---------------------------
Enable the console by adding DBGConsoleOn=true under in
Documents\The Witcher 3\dx12user.settings (user.s
