Darker Nights — Enhanced

The original mod is not mine, it has been made by shaedhen and improved by mandelbrodt (smoother transition patch).

The legacy version has been ported to next-gen by teresatiger.

I am the author of the enhanced version, which aims at correcting various bugs and rewriting and reworking parts of the mod.

I was maintaining the enhanced version on teresatiger mod page, but we decided to split the pages.

I will provide support and updates for the enhanced version as much as I can.

Additionally, I plan to rewrite the enhanced version from scratch to alleviate some issues, which will be released in v3 any time this year.

Installation instructions

The latest version of The Witcher 3 is required: a.k.a. The Witcher 3 Complete Edition.

Either use The Witcher 3 Mod Manager, or perform a manual installation, as follows:

• []Place the folder modDarkerNights into the game "mods" directory;

  []Place the "bin" folder into the game root directory;

  []Open the files "dx12filelist.txt" and "dx11filelist.txt", both located in "%gameroot/bin/config/r4game/user_config_matrix/pc/", and add DarkerNights.xml; at the end of the file;

  []Upon game loading, you should see a submenu "Darker Nights" in the "Mods" menu. For each game region, use the Default Preset to initialize the mod at its default values.

  []Install shared imports, as it is mandatory.

• []If you use Friendly meditation, install the Friendly meditation patch available in the Optional Files.

• []If the mod menu is not showing, you might have too much menu entries, therefore use this patch, or your game language is not supported by the mod, in which case you can help the community by translating the menu strings.

[]Do not forget to download Friendly Meditation Patch if you need it.

[]Do not forget to install Shared Imports, it is required.

[]Vastly improves Toussaint, no more extremely bright halo in the sky.

[]Corrects strange reflections at night using the new SSR and Ray-Tracing.

[]The mod has been tested with the DX11 game (SSAO and HBAO+), DX12 (SSAO, HBAO+ and Ray Tracing).
