📋 About This Mod
Quite a few fixes for the official adventures, "Price of Neutrality" and "Side Effects". I've always enjoyed these two, because they feel similar in style to the book short stories. I decided it was time to do something about certain issues
I'm going to explain the changes very carefully, the installation steps are important as well. The text changes are available only in English and Polish, the other edits work for every localisation. It's highly suggested to start a new playthrough of the adventures, as many of the edits require it to work properly.
Update 1. 5
Price of Neutrality: quite a lot of changes in this update. An important thing: if you're going to obtain Harvall in the module, install Harvall cutscenes and do not install m1_cs06, m1_cs06a, m1_cs07 and m1_cs08.cut from "Fixed cutscenes", as the latter were tweaked with the vanilla steel sword in mind.
- Fixed and restored an unused and unfinished cutscene that should have been triggered after the initial conversation with Merwin, Sabrina and co. at the start of the adventure. It was like half-done, half-abandoned, for example with Sabrina's template being that of a prostitute from the main campaign. The camera had to be adjusted, animations and characters added - but the foundations were there.
- Restored an alternative cutscene triggered at the final confrontation in the camp. In vanilla, it's always Deidre who attacks first... In fact, there was an unused cutscene that showed Sabrina start the fight by trying to deal with Deidre first by magic. Again, the scene was unfinished and required tweaking in order to bring it to a playable state. Condition on which the scene is triggered, I had to come up with something:
- Fixed a very hard to read description of the wolves' victim in the camp, now one can finally read it
- Nerfed the camp wolves' hp, I've always thought they had too much of it, the pack leader has not been edited
- Fixed kikimore workers' incorrect vulnerability to magic, the same bug as in the main campaign
- Restored a more powerful, unique version of Harvall that was supposed to be obtained by the player in a side quest. It was there, but not implemented, the main campaign version was used instead.
- The initial scene of the witcher coming to the camp and talking to Merwin and his band could display some oddly looking camera angles by default - it was a matter of luck how the random angles would be displayed, sometimes better, sometimes worse. Something needed to be done about it, now every line has a manually set camera for varied and working angles during the scene.
- Enhanced the vanilla final confrontation cutscene, where Deidre attacks first. I added draw animations to each witcher (vanilla had only Lambert draw weapon, as I remember), with each of them using a different animation. Also the witchers were moved in front of the camera, the vanilla cutscene didn't show Vesemir, for example.
- Restored a cutscene that was supposed to be played when approaching the fortress. I actually fixed one thing for it in the previous version, I hadn't remembered the cutscene was unavailable at all. Now it is, the scene was ready and didn't require further fixes, only a proper implementation of it in the location.
- Tweaked four cutscenes so that they display Harvall instead of Witcher Steel Sword in case of the player having it in inventory
Side Effects
- On @Jninja98's suggestion, restored an unused unique book about Alghouls. Now it's added at the end of Everden of Rinbe's questline - for the player's convenience it could be added earlier, but I did not want to change the balance of his previous rewards or make it too easy by adding the book in a container as free.
- Additional tweaks for the initial conversation with the alderman, Dandelion and Ralf Duben. I made sure the characters direct their lines to the correct receiver, in vanilla they had a tendency to simply speak to Gwynbleidd, even though it was e.g. Dandelion speaking to Duben. Things like this also attributed to odd camera angles. Speaking of which, I've done what I could to minimise the possibility of Dandelion being hard to see from behind the bars during some lines. But as he's constantly moving from side to side there, sometimes the bars win - nothing more can be done here.
Update 1. 4
Side Effects
Dialogue camera fixes and added animations
- a lot of effort put into fixing the intro scene with the alderman and any subsequent conversation with Dandelion. It was hard to get the camera right with the bars
