Too Dark Night Fix for Lightning Mods (for example PLM)

In short: To brighten areas that are too dark with PLM (or other Lightning Mods), I'll use a ReShade shader that automatically detects when it is bright or dark and then adjusts accordingly. In this case, I use AdaptiveTonemapper.fx from FXShaders by luluco250. During the day, the shader does not change anything significantly, but when it detects dark interiors/caves/night areas, it brightens them up.

You can either use my entire ReShade preset or just add the AdaptiveTonemapper.fx shader to your ReShade (but you will then have to adjust it yourself)

(My ReShade Preset includes more than just AdaptiveTonemapper.fx)

This fix should work for every Version of the Game which means Old-Gen and Next-Gen.

Install:

You only need to use one of the two options: Choose either the "Complete ReShade Preset Version"

or the "Just the AdaptiveTonemapper.fx Version".

Complete ReShade Preset Version Install

(Recommended)

1. Download the “Inclusive Preset Version” -> shortcut

2. Unzip the downloaded file. (It is important to unzip the file, otherwise ReShade will not be able to find the file needed in step 6)

3. Download the version 6. 6. 0 of ReShade -> here

5. Start the ReShade setup. During installation, select Witcher 3 -> then Vulkan or DirectX10/11/12, depending on your witcher 3 settings

6. In the next menu (called "Select effects to install"), click on Browse in the lower right corner -> Search the unzipped folder

“Night & Dark Fix for Witcher 3” and open it -> select the file “Night & Dark Fix for Witcher 3.ini.” -> click "Open" -> click "Next" at the bottom -> click "Finish"

7. Now open the downloaded and unzipped “Night & Dark Fix for Witcher 3” folder and copy only the ReShade.ini and Night & Dark Fix for Witcher 3.ini,

paste these into -> The Witcher 3\bin\x64 folder (where witcher3.exe is located)

For Steam users, by default it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\x64.
