📋 About This Mod
I added some low level noncombat vitality regen even in harder difficulties as using food to heal irks me.
########################################### Installation Instructions ##############################################
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE: Make a backup/copy of patch.bundle, it's located inside the same folder The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\content\patch0\bundles.
1. Extract the files in the mod into Witcher 3\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\content\patch0\bundles 2. Make a copy/backup of 'patch.bundle', its located inside the content\patch0\bundles 3. Click on 'reimport.bat', there now will follow 3 selection boxes (one at a time):
1.navigate to \content\patch0\bundles and select -> witcher3.bms -> open 2.navigate to \content\patch0\bundles and select -> patch.bundle -> open 3.navigate to \content\patch0\bundles and select -> Noncombat Health Regen - For Higher Difficulties -> open -> save (just open the folder and don't select anything in there, just click enter or click the save button) 4. Close the command window by pressing RETURN. You may need to press it twice.
The changes are now applied to the .bundles and ready to play. In theory.
NOT COMPATIBLE with any other mod that modified the same files I used.
################################################Uninstallation################################################### 1. Restore original backed up copy of patch.bundle, delete all other files in folder.
Just a little tweak. If you like it, try my other mod, Lore Friendly Alchemy. It changes the potion system back to something more like the older games/books. It also renders this mod unnecessary, as it's included...
Noncombat Health Regen adds low-level vitality regeneration outside of combat for higher difficulties in The Witcher 3, addressing the annoyance of relying on food to heal. It requires manual installation via a reimport script and is incompatible with other mods that modify the same files. The mod is a simple tweak, with 261 endorsements and last updated in May 2015.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves the annoyance of spamming food to heal on higher difficulties (261 endorsements).
- Simple tweak that doesn't overhaul combat or other systems.
- Author provides clear installation steps, though they are manual.
⚠️ Cons
- Installation is fiddly: requires running a batch file and selecting files, which can be intimidating.
- Incompatible with any other mod touching the same files, so you'll need to check your mod list carefully.
- Old mod (last updated 2015) and may not work with later game patches or the next-gen update.
For Witcher 3 players on Death March or other high difficulties who find food-based healing tedious and want a small quality-of-life boost. Skip if you're using mods that overhaul the same files or if you prefer a more challenging experience without regen.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Back up your patch.bundle before starting, as the mod modifies it directly.
- Follow the installation steps exactly: the reimport.bat will ask for three files in order.
- If you have other mods that modify gameplay files, test for conflicts early.
