Iguana Level Mod

Hey you! Are you an obsessive completionist? Tired of out-levelingyour quests so easily? Fed up with being penalized for doing quests in the “wrong” order? Well then this mod’s for you! Using super efficient MatheMagics I have altered the XP progression of The Witcher 3 so that you can experience the whole game at a reasonable challenge level.

To that end, thismod does 3 things:

1) Removes levelbased XP scaling for quests. Geralt receives a flat 60% of the max reward.

2) Increases enemylevel by 40% (to a max of level+10)

3) Caps Geralt’slevel at 50 (100 in NG+)

It actually caps itat whatever level you started the NG+ at plus another 50. If you start a NG+ playthrough on a save that’s level 43, for example,your NG+ level cap would be 93.

I put this modtogether back in 2016 but never released it. Since then CDPR has added 2 expansions and the ability to upscale enemies, both of which arguably lessen the need for my alterations. Nonetheless, I still prefer my solution. I’m not a fan, in general, of NPCs that scale to player level because it makes having level based progression feel pointless. I also feel that level caps are a necessary feature, and by implementing a hard one for non NG+ games it gives both plus and non plus play-throughs a similar progression.

I have not found anycrashes or obvious logic errors on my various play-throughs. My recent NG+ run with the mod updated to the latest patch revealed no errors. I reached max level about two-thirds of the way through Blood and Wine, which is just about perfect in my opinion.

Known Issues:

I never figured outhow to make my changes to NPC level affect the quest level that appears in the journal. The numbers next to the quest still represent the unmodified NPC level and difficulty. You will need to mentally add 40%, to a max of +10 at level 25 and above, to get the actual adjusted difficulty.

Compatibility/Mergability:

My limitedexperience suggests it does not merge easily with other mods. Attempt to mix and match at your own risk.

Installation:

Extract the archiveto the \Mods directory of your Witcher 3 game install. On my PC, for example, that would be ‘C:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\Mods’.
