📋 About This Mod
!!! - VERSION 1. 3 RELEASED - Major changes since initial release of 1. 0 - make sure to upgrade - !!!
Motivation:
I originally planned this, with the goal to make an easily accessible Package, for everyone who wants a “one and done” solution for a gorier Witcher 3 playthrough and while Fatality fulfills that role, it also goes quiet a bit further.
The vanilla “kill-effects” (finishers/dismembers) always annoyed me. They are way too rare, inconsistent and completely random. I always wanted more control over them. Unfortunately all other mods that deal with kill-effects, that I know off, either forced them to occur, or simply drastically increased their chances. I didn´t like that, because it removed “regular deaths” (kills by swords, which are not finishers/dismembers) almost entirely. These regular death effects are quite varied, with unique voice lines, deep cuts and slashes on the bodies of enemies and some gruesome bleedout and throat-cut animations. So, I always wished for a Mod that has a good balance between all these “on death animations”: regular deaths, dismembers and finishers, with some controll over which death animations occur. So now i created it myself.
While working through the files I remembered an idea I had years ago, when I first played The Witcher 3: “wouldn´t it be cool, if the finisher- and dismemberchance would be tied to your Adrenaline Bar?!” If you don´t invest in Adrenaline, the meter barely does anything, only increasing your damage by a small amount. So giving it some more inherent functionality seemed like a good idea and in addition, it just sounded thematically very appropriate to me, since a drawn-out adrenaline filled battle, would then climax with an dramatic increase in gory brutal kills.
After a very long night, I got the initial system to work and was very happy with the result. 😊
What the Mod does:
-
[]Fatality introduces a unique logic, that dynamically scales your chance to perform a Brutal-Kill-Animation, based on your current Adrenaline.
Brutal Kills are also referred to as a "Fatality" (Finisher or Dismember).[
]The system checks your current Adrenaline on kill and applies a chance from 0-75% for Finishers and 0-60% for Dismembers. As Finishers and Dismembers are checked for sequentially, that will add up to a total 90% chance to perform a Fatality, when you are at full adrenaline.- > See: *v. 1. 2. Brutal Kill Probability Table.
- []This has absolutely no impact on difficulty, so it does not make the game any easier or harder. This is purely an aesthetic and artistic change, to give Witcher 3´s Combat more of a dramatic feel.
**v. 1. 2. Brutal Kill Probability Table based on Adrenaline Points (0 to 3):
