📋 About This Mod

The X20 Mod is intended to bring the design philosophy of the 20th Anniversary Editions to VTMB: to make it feel like it fits into the wider World of Darkness setting by including references, both obvious and subtle, to material that came

When creating VTM Bloodlines, Activision and Troika seemingly only had the license to use elements from Vampire: The Masquerade, ignoring the rest of the World of Darkness setting -- a setting which includes games like Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, Changeling: The Dreaming, Hunter: The Reckoning, Demon: The Fallen, and more.

The various 20th Anniversary Editions of the World of Darkness tabletop game lines (the "X20" editions) are intended to be used as sort of the equivalent of a "Greatest Hits" album, where all your favourite band's best material is remastered and presented in the best light possible.

The X20 Mod is intended to bring that design philosophy to Bloodlines: to make it feel like it fits into the wider World of Darkness setting by including references both overt and subtle, obvious and deep-dive, referencing material that came out before Bloodlines and after. This is a World of Darkness fan's Greatest Hits album. Although efforts have been made to make everything feel like it's seamlessly incorporated and not glaringly obvious, there's a lot in here. Among the changes, you'll find:

  • []More detail: higher resolution textures, better maps and signage, some tweaked quest text for better clarity

[]More self-consistent references: more stuff in the game will reflect character dialogue or quest goals

[]More external references: A lot of new material from other Vampire: The Masquerade sources are referenced, as well as other game lines and video games in the World of Darkness: Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, and more

[]More non-WoD references: For example: Steve Jaros (hi, Steve!) included several nods to VTM Bloodlines in the Saints Row series, such as the diner named "Smiling Jack's." We returned the favour with a couple of Saints Row references.

    []More easter eggs.

Even if you're not a World of Darkness fan, these alterations might encourage you to become one, inspiring you to look up references and names. If nothing else, it'll keep your playthrough feeling fresh.

X20 Mod is one of Clan Quest Mod's "recommended mods" in the installer!

"It's very very good! Thank you for your hard work!!" --Xander Jeanneret, the Malkavian "X" from Geek & Sundry's LA by Night

    Compatibility

    • []X20 Textures is the "main" X20 mod: just textures, so it's compatible with pretty much any other Bloodlines mod. If two mods both affect the same textures -- for example, the separate HD Paintings mod -- just make sure you install the mods in the order you want to keep them, as mods installed later will overwrite and take priority over mods installed earlier.

[]X20 Scripts is intended to be used with the Plus version of the Unofficial Patch (although it should also work fine with the Basic version). As of X20 version 1. 13, we are compatible with Unofficial Patch 11. 4. Since this affects questlogs, dialogs, and other scripting, it will almost certainly break functionality in other mods, such as Clan Quest. Note that X20 Scripts does not contain any of the textures from X20 Textures.

For optimal results, we recommend installing both X20 Textures and X20 Scripts on an installation of Bloodlines which is already using the Plus version of Unofficial Patch 11. 4.

      Installation

For X20 Textures: Download the Textures zip and extract the files into your Bloodlines data folder. If you downloaded from Steam, the folder should be something like

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Unofficial_Patch

Overwrite any files if there are any conflicts.

Since X20 Textures can be used with any mod, customize the URL accordingly. For example, if you're playing the Clan Quest Mod and you want the latest X20 material added, your installation folder may be Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\CQM.

For X20 Scripts: As above, extract the zip contents to your Unofficial Patch data folder. Overwrite files if there are any conflicts.

      • []Unlike X20 Textures, X20 Scripts is designed to be used with the Unofficial Patch (specifically the UP Plus patch, but it should work fine with UP Basic). If you use it with any other mod, you may break scripting by using X20 Scripts.

      • X20 Scripts does not include any of the content from X20 Textures. For the full experience, you must download and install both files.
