Save Guardian

Rotating save backups, verified with the game's own validator, and automatic recovery when a slot will not load.

The game keeps one backup copy per slot and overwrites it on every save. If something goes wrong during a save (a crash, a mod that breaks serialisation, a bad update) you can lose both. Save Guardian keeps the last 20 generations of every slot and puts a good one back for you when the game refuses to load.

Features

• []Rotating backups on every save: pause-menu saves, the end-of-day autosave, and the optional timer. One timestamped folder per backup, oldest pruned automatically.[/]

  []Verified. Every backup is checked with the game's own save validator. Each folder has a manifest.txt with the in-game day, shop level, money and a hash of each file, so "day 57, level 31" is easy to find.[/]

  []Automatic recovery. If the game fails to load a slot, the unreadable files are moved to a quarantine folder (never deleted), the newest good backup is put in place and the load is retried. If that fails too, the originals are put back. You are never worse off.[/]

  []Modded save data too. Enhanced Prefab Loader keeps every modded card count, item licence and price in its own file per slot, outside the game's save. Save Guardian backs it up with the slot and restores it from the same backup, so a restored shop never meets newer modded data. Stock Manager's sales history is covered the same way.[/]

  []Optional timed autosave (off by default), plus F5 to save now and Shift+F5 to back up now. Rebindable.[/]

  []Update-proof. If a future game build changes the save routine, the mod logs a warning and falls back to watching the save folder, so backups keep happening.[/]

  Installation

  • []Install BepInEx Pack for TCG Card Shop Simulator and run the game once.[/]

    []Extract the zip into the game folder so you have BepInEx\plugins\SaveGuardian\SaveGuardian.dll.[/]

    []Play. Backups appear in BepInEx\SaveGuardian\slot-N\.[/]

    Configuration

    Press F1 in game (Configuration Manager) or edit BepInEx\config\com.<user>.tcgcardshopsimulator.saveguardian.cfg: backups per slot, backup folder, verification, on-screen messages, modded save data (and which files it covers), auto-recovery, autosave interval and both hotkeys.

    Restoring by hand

    Automatic recovery only runs when a load fails. To go back to an earlier point on purpose: close the game, open the save folder (path is printed in BepInEx\LogOutput.log), move the current savedGames_Release<slot> files aside, then copy the files from the backup folder you want (everything except manifest.txt) into the save folder and load the slot. If the backup has a companions folder, copy what is inside it into the save folder too, keeping its sub-folders: that is your modded save data.

    Compatibility

    Built for game version 1. 0. Requires the BepInEx 5 pack. The mod never changes anything the game writes; it only copies files, so it is safe next to every other mod. Enhanced Prefab Loader and Stock Manager keep a file per save slot; since 1. 1. 0 those are backed up and restored with the slot. Backups live in the game folder, so Steam Cloud does not sync them. If a future game update changes the save routine, the mod keeps working by watching the save folder instead and says so in BepInEx\LogOutput.log ("Hooks: save=off").
