📋 About This Mod
I have worked for many months to find a nice balance between collision loading distance and continued performance of the game.
This mod is honestly made mostly for those with Mid to High end machines and I am hesitant to recommend it to people with machines that barely run the game as is.
Solid Terrain (Bepinex) increases terrain collision loading distance by 4-5x, preventing creatures like Reapers and Crash fish from swimming through the ground when far from the player. A performance-friendly fix for Subnautica players tired of immersion-breaking glitches, with strong community support (663 endorsements).
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 663 endorsements and over 68k downloads—clearly a go-to fix.
- Directly tackles a common immersion-breaking bug without overhauling the game.
- Simple, focused purpose: just install and forget about creatures phasing through terrain.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires BepInEx setup, which might be extra work if you're new to modding.
- Only addresses terrain collision—doesn't fix other creature AI quirks.
- Potential performance impact on lower-end systems due to increased collision calculations.
For Subnautica players who are tired of seeing Reapers and Crash fish clip through the seafloor. If you're already using BepInEx mods, this is a no-brainer. Skip if you're on console or prefer vanilla gameplay.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure BepInEx is installed correctly before adding this mod—check your game folder for a 'BepInEx' folder after installation.
- If you're using other mods, load order usually doesn't matter for this one, but keep it in the 'plugins' folder.
- Test near the Aurora or in the Dunes to see the difference—Reapers should no longer sink into the ground.
