📋 About This Mod
This mod assigns unique range, stamina cost, and attack speed values to each melee weapon, giving some texture to the weapon pool based on each weapon's physical characteristics (weight and size/shape).
Hopefully, between these 3 tweaks for each weapon, the pool becomes a bit more varied and each weapon has more of a unique use case.
RANGE
In vanilla starfield almost every melee attack has the same range of "1. 0", which ends up being like 5-6 feet. This is especially noticeable in first person, and, in my massive opinion, makes melee (unarmed especially) look very unrealistic while attacking and makes trying to dodge someone's melee attack annoying cuz you dodge then you're 5 feet away from them but they still land a jab like they're mr damn fantastic 4.
STAMINA COST
Secondly, stamina cost for almost everything was 40 stams. Gun bashes were and are standardized at 56, which feels ok so I left it. The melee weapons have, however, been changed to add some flavour to the melee pool. Maybe the pool will become a stew if enough flavour is added. Some food for thought.
ATTACK SPEED
Thirdly, everything attacked at the same speed, no matter the weight or general wieldiness of the weapon. I've slowed nothing down because by default the attack is quite slow, but most things have been sped up to feel more realistic and give each size of weapon a unique advantage.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Targets a real problem—vanilla melee range is indeed broken, and this mod fixes it.
- Covers all melee weapons plus unarmed and gun bashes, so no playstyle is left out.
- Decent traction for a niche mod: 8,600 downloads and 35 endorsements show it's being used.
⚠️ Cons
- Only 35 endorsements—might be a hidden gem or just not widely tested.
- Last updated May 2025—could be outdated if the game has patched since then.
For melee-focused players who are tired of whiffing attacks due to broken range and want a more balanced stamina and speed curve. Also for those who like fine-tuned combat tweaks without a full overhaul. Skip if you prefer ranged combat or don't care about melee balance.
