📋 About This Mod
Tinkering with guns brings many advantages, but it also comes with risks one must be ready to face.

Laser, particle beam, and EM weapons weigh 50% less and have double magazine size.
Laser, particle beam, and EM weapons have a 20% chance to fire two extra projectiles, but with a 10% risk of firing a dead round which deals minuscule damage.
CHALLENGE 1
Deal 1500 damage with laser, particle beam or EM weapons.
CHALLENGE 2
Deal 3000 damage with laser, particle beam or EM weapons.
CHALLENGE 3
Deal 5000 damage with laser, particle beam or EM weapons.
Mad Scientist can be found on Tier 3 (Expert tier) of the Science skill tree. It provides more positives than negatives, but it's up to the player to decide whether the tradeoffs are worth it. This skill doesn't apply to Tool Grip weapons, like the Welder and Cutter. It uses the icon of Weapon Engineering.
This skill is compatible with all other mods. I'm slightly biased but I would recommend pairing it with my skill overhaul - Valiant.
Let me know if you find any bugs or have any critique/ideas. I always love hearing your feedback.
Mad Scientist adds a new Tier 3 (Expert) Science skill that grants wild effects to Laser, Particle Beam, and EM weapons. It's a fresh addition designed to be compatible with any mod setup, offering new build options for science-focused characters.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid endorsement count (59) with over 22k downloads shows real interest.
- Adds a fresh skill for science builds, giving laser and energy weapon users new toys.
- Compatibility-focused design means it should slot into most load orders without headaches.
⚠️ Cons
- No details on what the wild effects actually do—could be anything from damage boosts to weird statuses.
- Only one skill added, so it's a small addition rather than a full perk overhaul.
- Compatibility with other perk mods that touch the same skill tree isn't guaranteed, so test before committing.
For players who love energy weapons and want a new way to build their science character. If you're tired of the same old perk trees and want something quirky, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for a major gameplay overhaul—this is a focused addition.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a Tier 3 skill, make sure your character has enough Science skill points to unlock it.
- If you're using a mod manager, let it handle the file placement to avoid conflicts.
- Test the new skill on a save with energy weapons to see the effects in action before building around it.
