VR power attack fix

Better mod:

AutoGibbon has created Power Attack VR that fundmentally changes how VR power attacks are executed (in a great way). I highly recommend getting his mod instead.

Short version:

With this mod execute a directional power attack by moving forwards, sideways, or backwards while hitting an enemy with a power attack. If you are using teleportation, then I'm pretty sure directional power attacks are impossible.

Long version:

Directional power attacks are implemented in Skyrim VR, though they are nearly impossible to use as they were implemented. This mod doesn't change the mechanism of how directional power attacks are made, but just makes it easier to actually execute them.

How power attacks work in Skyrim VR, and will continue to work in this mod:

• []The direction, orientation, etc. of your swing does NOT matter. This means that you can execute a forwards power attack on someone positioned to your side (by swinging your arm to  your side).

  []As in non-VR Skyrim, the direction you are MOVING is what determines a directional power attack (this also means that they cannot be performed when using teleportation).

  []The direction you are moving is relative to your headset orientation. Thus a forwards power attack is when you are moving in the same direction your headset is oriented.

  []You have to HIT a target with a power attack for a directional power attack to be initiated.

  Without this mod, to execute a directional power attack you have to be moving in the exact direction of the attack you wanted to implement (as though you were using WASD on a keyboard, because Bethesda literally didn't change power attacks at all for VR). Meaning to do a sideways power attack, you had to be moving at exactly 90 degrees relative to your headset orientation, which is not easy to do with a thumbstick or touchpad.

  This mod just makes the whole process quite a bit more forgiving. It gives you about a 45 degree cone in every direction that can be used to execute a directional power attack. Thus, if you're a few degrees off of moving perfectly forwards you will still execute a forwards power attack when you hit an enemy with a power attack.

  How to know if you execute a directional power attack:

  • []Your character will be out of your control for a moment while an animation is played in the direction of the attack.
