📋 About This Mod
PATCHES IN PROGRESS
Currently this page has some patches to update visual effects to use VAER's effects, I'll be adding more patches in future along with a proper FOMOD so it's easier to pick and choose what patch combination you actually want.
For now, you can download:
-
[]Vanilla Shaders - use VAER visuals
[
]Thaumaturgy Shaders - VAER or Thaumaturgy colours[]Vestige Shaders - VAER or Vestige colours
[]Reliquary of Myth - VAER or ROM colours
They will only change effects that already exist - if a weapon doesn't currently have an enchantment effect attached, it won't have one with these patches either, only existing visuals will change. Adding new effects requires a separate patch to which I refer you to the Enchantment Patches section. And a reminder that everything is very much a work in progress right now.
I'll also be moving all the VAER patches over from my giant mod dumping ground, along with several new patches, but I need to finish updating them all and I keep procrastinating on that. So I'm posting the finished (or 98% complete) patches for now so I can stop telling people 'oh yes, I fixed that, but you can't have it yet'.
Also I keep sleeping about three hours a night, my brain is not trustworthy with complicated patching decisions right now >.>
In future, you can use the standalone effect shader patches, or a full 'enchantment' patch to change the visuals attached to each magic effect.
For now, you can get standalone, conflict free (almost), patches for the visuals for Vestige, Thaumaturgy, and Vanilla. If you have a working VAER patch you are happy with, you don't need these. If you don't, or you want to reduce conflicts with magic effects and weapons, then these patches will help.
Effects Patches
These patches updates the vanilla or mod-added visual effects used for enchantments.
They do not change the enchantments themselves and will not conflict with any other weapon or enchantment patches.
Useful forA quick and easy way to update as many things as possible to VAER's visuals without conflicts.
Will not work for
Anything that changes the enchantment to point to a different visual effect that doesn't exist in the base game or the patched mod. Additional patches are required i
VAER - Visual Animated Enchants Reborn - Patches is a work-in-progress collection of compatibility patches that update visual effects for vanilla and modded enchantments to use VAER's animated visuals. Currently includes patches for Vanilla Shaders, Thaumaturgy, Vestige, and Reliquary of Myth, with more planned. For Skyrim players using VAER who want to reduce conflicts with magic effect mods.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted with 111 endorsements and nearly 12k downloads
- Reduces conflicts with magic effect and weapon mods, a real headache for VAER users
- Actively maintained—last updated October 2025, so it's not abandoned
⚠️ Cons
- Work-in-progress: only a few patches available right now, and no FOMOD installer yet
- Only changes existing effects—if a weapon lacks an enchantment effect, these patches won't add one
- Potential compatibility risk with other mods that alter the same enchantment visuals, though patches aim to be conflict-free
For Skyrim players who use VAER and want to make it play nice with Thaumaturgy, Vestige, or Reliquary of Myth. If you're tired of visual glitches or missing effects from mod conflicts, these patches are a solid stopgap. Skip if you don't use VAER or if you're fine with your current setup.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since these patches are standalone, you can mix and match—grab only the ones for mods you actually have installed.
- Load these patches after VAER and the mod they patch (e.g., Thaumaturgy) in your mod manager to ensure they override correctly.
- Check the mod page periodically for updates—the author is adding more patches and a FOMOD, so your setup might get easier soon.
