📋 About This Mod
The Tamriel Location Framework adds a framework of locations for Skyrim, Nirn, and Aetherius itself, using location records to combine all those random new land mods into properly organised geography for a smoother experience and better compatibility.
ESL flagged. Safe to install on an ongoing game.

What this does:
-
[]Adds locations for everything that doesn't currently have a location, mostly outside Skyrim itself.
[
]Actually organises those locations in a proper as canon as possible structure[]Adds some new location types that I kept wanting for other things, or just made sense - like LocSetOcean, LocSetIslands, and LocTypeDocks, LocHabitationHasPort, LocSetAyleidRuin.
[]Makes a few minor location fixes along the way, like adding a Skyrim country location.
This adds support for distribution frameworks that use locations (e.g. Spell Perk Item Distributor, Container Item Distributor, Container Distribution Framework, Keyword Item Distributor, Skypatcher), as well as vastly expanding the options for any scripts that use location data for their features, and plugins that use conditions to limit or customise their effects (e.g. perks, AI packages, magic effects can all be limited by location).
I've already created far far too many location patches for new lands mods so anything using this framework can Just Work(tm) out of the box.
EVEN MORE INFO
For the player
You'll probably only notice the save game or map location names change slightly (or that they actually start to exist), and maybe some location based effects and features will start to work a bit more consistently. This mod will be nice to have, but will do little that you even notice. This is mainly a modder's resource, but it will also act as a 'Unique Region Names' alternative for new lands and locations not covered by that mod, because it adds so many location names that just didn't exist in most mods before.
For modders (and modlist tweakers)
This mod will make a huge difference. Many mods rely on location data to trigger effects, whether it's discovering a new location with Experience, crossing a border, registering crimes, starting in a new place with Skyrim Unbound, dialogue conditions from locals, specific loot lists, quest
Tamriel Location Framework is a modder's resource that adds and organizes location records for Skyrim, Nirn, and Aetherius, improving compatibility between new land mods. It's ESL-flagged, safe for ongoing games, and supports distribution frameworks like SPID. With 216 endorsements and 11,185 downloads, it's a niche utility for modders and players seeking better location-based consistency.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- ESL-flagged, so it's safe to add to an existing save without bloating your load order
- Solid community backing with 216 endorsements and over 11k downloads
- Actively maintained, last updated October 2025, and comes with a patch hub for compatibility
⚠️ Cons
- As a modder's resource, it offers little visible change for regular players—you might only notice minor map name tweaks
- Requires patches for specific new land mods to work fully, so you'll need to check the hub for your mods
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter location records, so load order management is key
For modders who build or patch new lands and want a unified location framework, and for players who run many new land mods and want better location-based effects. Skip if you're after visual or gameplay overhauls—this is a backend utility that works quietly in the background.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's ESL-flagged, you can install it mid-playthrough without worrying about breaking your save, but always keep a backup just in case.
- Check the Patch Hub for patches for your specific new land mods—this ensures the framework actually organizes them correctly.
- Use a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex to handle installation and load order, and place it early in your load order to avoid conflicts.
