📋 About This Mod
This mod is rather self-explanatory, it adds in the ability to "zero" your skills, and optionally set your health, magicka, and stamina to 50, at the start of your game.
5 seconds after you load this mod into your game, you will be prompted with a notification in the top-left corner of your screen, saying "You may now become bad at everything!", and you will be given a power called "". Upon using this power, your levels for all of your skills will be set to 1, and the power will remove itself when it is done, so it is not loitering in your spellbook afterwards. If you download the more difficult version your health, magicka, and stamina will also be reduced to 50. It is suggested that you use this power after you have made your character and have configured your mods, in case you have anything that will change your skill levels during that process.
Required Mods:

Recommended Mods:
Timing is Everything, so you can bump up the level at which certain quests and shit start to account for the slower start.
Starting Spell Choice, so you can remove the starter spells if you want. Recommended from the comments.
Skill Uncapper, so you can continue levelling up past 100. Just my personal preference.
Experience, recommended in the comments. A great way to prevent the rapid initial level-ups if that bothers you.
Load Order and Compatibility:
You can place this anywhere in your load order because scripts handle giving the spell to the player upon loading the mod up, and it is compatible with everything for the same reason. However, as I said earlier in the description, it is suggested you start the mod with the power after configuring your mods and making your character in order to prevent some other mods from overwriting the changes made to your skills.
-If your skills are all starting at 1, wouldn't that make it so your overall level will increase faster at the start?
Yes, and that is why I made the optional "hard mode," to let your stats account for that, and why I also suggested Timing is Everything. That way, despite the more rapid leveling speed, you are still getting the more difficult starting experience, but you are not being flooded with level-based quests and events when your stats and skills are still too low. Alternatively, you could use Experience (see the recommended mods above) in order to prevent these initial rapid level ups, because that mod bases your level ups on experience gained from completing activities (kinda like Fallout's experience/leveling system), but you can still increase your skills the normal way without them contributing to the overall level.
-Why did you call this mod "Skill Zeroer" if you changed all the stats to 1 rather than 0?
Because "Skill Oner" is less catchy of a name, and having the skills at 1 make
Skill Zeroer is a lightweight Skyrim mod that resets all your skills to level 1 at the start of a new game, with an optional harder version that also drops health, magicka, and stamina to 50. It's designed for players who want a fresh, challenging playthrough without the hassle of manually editing stats. The mod is script-driven, so it's compatible with most setups and has no required dependencies.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 183 endorsements and over 8,000 downloads
- Script-driven design means it's compatible with everything and easy to place in your load order
- Gives you a true 'start from scratch' experience without needing console commands
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021, so it might not be tested with the latest Skyrim versions or mods
- The power triggers 5 seconds after loading, which can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention
- Using it after configuring other mods is recommended, but if you forget, other mods might overwrite the skill changes
For Skyrim players who want a hardcore restart—maybe you're doing a permadeath run or just want to feel the struggle of being a level 1 nobody again. It's also great for roleplayers who want to start with a blank slate. Skip it if you're fine with the vanilla start or don't want to deal with the extra challenge.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Use the power after you've finished character creation and set up your other mods, so nothing overwrites the skill reset.
- Pair it with Timing is Everything to delay quests that might trigger too early at low level.
- If you're using the harder version, be ready for a tough early game—your health and stamina will be at 50, so avoid fights until you level up a bit.
