📋 About This Mod
Adds five new weapons to the game: Shortbow, Hunter's Shortbow, Valenwood Shortbow, Blackwood Shortbow and Magic Shortbow.
These bows have slightly weaker damage and shorter range than other bows. Their biggest advantage is a fast rate of fire which allows you to take more shots before the enemy reaches you.
The weapons are sometimes used by enemies and sold by merchants once the player reaches high enough level. They start to appear in game at levels 1, 10, 20, 30 and 40 respectively. All of the bows can also be crafted at a forge, requiring level 1, 20, 40, 60 and 80 Smithing respectively. Perks are not required for crafting but 'Steel Smithing' (Normal/Hunter's), 'Elven Smithing' (Valenwood/Blackwood) and 'Advanced Armors' (Magic) perks double the improvements.

Shortbows adds five new bows to Skyrim with lower damage and shorter range but faster fire rates, allowing more shots before enemies close in. They appear in loot and merchants at levels 1-40, and can be crafted at forges with Smithing levels 1-80. A solid option for archers wanting a different playstyle.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fast fire rate is a game-changer for archers who want to pepper enemies before they get close (Shortbow fires at 1.10 vs Daedric's 0.50).
- Five distinct bows with scaling stats give you a natural progression from level 1 to endgame.
- Community-tested with 360 endorsements and nearly 11k downloads, so it's proven to work.
⚠️ Cons
- Lower base damage means you'll need more arrows per kill, which can be a hassle early game.
- Shorter range might put you in danger if you're used to sniping from afar.
- Compatibility risk: mods that alter leveled lists or crafting recipes could conflict, so check your load order.
For Skyrim archers who want a faster, more aggressive playstyle and don't mind trading damage for DPS. Also great for players who enjoy crafting their own gear and want new options at every level. Skip if you prefer one-shot kills or use mods that overhaul bow balance.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since these bows are added to leveled lists, they'll show up in shops and on enemies as you level—keep an eye out for the Magic Shortbow at level 40.
- If you're crafting, note that the Smithing perks double improvements, so invest in Steel Smithing early for the basic Shortbow.
- Test the fire rate difference in combat—you'll need to adjust your timing for shots between enemy attacks.
