📋 About This Mod

NAT - TrueStorms Compatibility Patch

Natural and Atmospheric Tamriel has always been my favorite weather mod by far, the weathers are so crisp and clear, the atmosphere it creates is just perfect for me. The only thing I found myself missing was the crazy intensity of True Storms, but I could never find a compatibility patch. So voila! I thought I would go ahead and make one myself.

It's a bit more than a drag-and-drop compatibility patch, though. I really wanted to keep the aspects that I loved from both, so I blended the lighting and effects of the stormy weathers from both mods together, while keeping all of NAT's region data intact so no other weathers are affected or overwritten. NAT makes a lot of detailed changes, so I was very selective about what I chose to merge, being careful not to overwrite any of NAT's features while still retaining True Storm's weathers. I ended up trying a few different things, so there are three different "blended" versions of the patch that each have a different aesthetic.

Features

-Completely merges all audio from both mods into a single experience, including 30+ thunder sounds, interior rain, rain/snow particle effects, and wind/rain audio. All added thunder sounds from both NAT and True Storms were distributed evenly throughout all stormy weathers for maximum variety.

-Brings all of True Storm's particles and effects over into NAT's stormy weathers to amp up the intensity of your storms.

-Redistributes all of True Storm's unique weathers into NAT's region data without overwriting any other weathers, and tweaks their rarity to help them blend in seamlessly with NAT's unique weather system.

-Comes in three versions for visual preference. All three versions contain all of the above features, they simply change the "aesthetic" of your stormy weathers purely by tweaking things like ambient lighting, coloring, fog settings, etc. None of NAT's distinct features have been altered.

Here's an overview of what the three versions do:

-Dark and Stormy Version- Keeps almost all of the ambient lighting and coloring from NAT stormy/rainy weathers, while still combining the particles and thunder/interior rain sounds of True Storms. If you were mainly looking for a version that just integrated True Storm's particle effects and audio into NAT's stormy weathers, then this is the version for you.

-Eerie Skies Version- Blends more of the ambient lighting and effects from True Storms into NAT

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 1,035 endorsements and 42k downloads
  • Gives you the best of both worlds: NAT's pretty skies plus True Storms' dramatic weather
  • Three versions let you pick the exact look you want

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2018, so might not play nice with newer mods or game updates
  • Requires both NAT and True Storms installed, so it's an extra dependency if you're not already using them
  • Potential conflicts with other weather or audio overhauls that touch the same systems
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim SE players who love NAT's visuals but want True Storms' intense weather effects and audio. If you're already running both mods, this patch is a no-brainer. Skip if you prefer one weather mod over the other or don't want the extra setup.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have both NAT and True Storms installed before adding this patch, and load it after both in your mod order.
  • Try all three versions in-game to see which visual style fits your taste—you can switch without restarting.
  • If you use other weather mods, check for compatibility patches or load order conflicts to avoid weird weather behavior.
