📋 About This Mod

Mythical Ages - TrueStorms Compatibility Patch

Another compatibility patch that I made in my quest to make True Storms compatible with as many weather mods as possible, as I absolutely love it to death. Mythical Ages has a very unique aesthetic that I had a lot of fun playing around with while blending the two together. I hope you'll enjoy the results!

Features

-Completely merges all audio and effects from both True Storms and Mythical Ages into all stormy and rainy weathers, including the 30+ thunder sounds, as well as all ambient and interior rain sounds. I made sure to distribute the thunder sounds evenly throughout all weathers for maximum variety.

-Redistributes a few of True Storm's unique weathers into Mythical's region data where it made sense to do so, taking special care not to add weathers that might seem out of place in Mythical's weather system.

-Tweaks the Solstheim regional data to include all variations of ash storms from both Mythical Ages and True Storms, and provides support for those added by Wet&Cold for a completely revamped Solstheim weather system.

-Comes in two versions for visual preference. Both versions contain all of the above features, they simply change the "aesthetic" of your stormy weathers purely by tweaking things like ambient lighting, coloring, fog settings, etc. None of Mythical Age's main features have been altered.

Here's an overview of what both versions do:

-Overcast-

This version keeps nearly all of the original stormy aesthetic from Mythical Ages, meaning that it retains the touch of "haziness" that all of Mythical's storms have, with the addition of True Storms rainy/snowy effects and audio. If you were looking for a version that only carried over True Storm's effects and audio without changing too much from Mythical Ages, then this is the version for you.

-Dusky-

This is my own personal take on a darker, stormier blend between the aesthetics of both mods, as I personally enjoy my stormy weathers to be as dark and ominous as possible. I was very selective about which settings I choose to tweak in order to ensure that transitions between Mythical's other weathers wouldn't seem overly harsh. If you were looking for a version that keeps more of True Storms aesthetic, then this is the version for you.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 658 endorsements and over 18k downloads.
  • Solves the headache of running two weather mods without conflicts.
  • Gives you a choice between two visual styles, so you can pick what fits your game.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only works if you're using both Mythical Ages and True Storms, so it's useless otherwise.
  • Last updated in 2018, so it might not play nice with newer mod versions or patches.
  • Compatibility risk with other weather or lighting mods that touch the same systems.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim SE players who want the immersive storms of True Storms but prefer Mythical Ages' overall weather look. If you're not running both mods, skip this — it's a pure compatibility patch, not a standalone weather overhaul.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Load this patch after both Mythical Ages and True Storms in your load order to ensure it overrides correctly.
  • Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to install and manage the patch, and check the two versions in the installer to see which visual style you prefer.
  • If you're on Skyrim Special Edition, make sure your mod manager is set up for SSE and that you're not using the oldrim versions of the mods.
