Most of Jen's childhood was spent in transit as she was moved from home to home, starting from the faraway continent of Akavir, to the semi-ruined lands of Morrowind, and eventually having her last known home in Cyrodiil; thus having little to no attachment to people and places.

Unbeknownst to her, her original family sold her off within minutes of her birth to a shady group of "child-collectors", whose main operation was to collect children bearing Akaviri lineage to nobles on Tamriel, who were willing to pay a high price for these "rare commodities", as there were ongoing rumors that the blood of an Akaviri had special healing properties when extracted periodically in small amounts. Although slavery has largely been outlawed in many parts of Morrowind, she was brought there under the guise of adoption, where she would have spent the rest of her days fulfilling the whims of her captors, while providing the occasional tiny spillage of blood.

Since her early childhood, she was blessed with a quick-thinking mind, but that led to her often finding herself in sticky situations due to her constant need of excitement, entertainment and adrenalin-rushes. She lacked the patience to do mundane, repetitive activity (like farming and housework) and was repeatedly disowned by various households shortly after they adopted her. The first few cases were pure accidents, but she learned how to manipulate situations to release herself from custody using cunning and guile soon enough.

By a strange twist of fate, rumors of her beauty as a teenager started to spread amongst the upper class of Morrowind, and it wasn't long before she caught the attention of a wealthy and powerful merchant family from Cyrodiil, who happened to chance upon her visage while on a voyage to Morrowind to procure new goods for future shipments.
