Demi hails from Cyrodiil with some level of fame (or notoriety, depending on who you ask) to her name. She has been credited as being a key figure in a few notable recent struggles of the Empire, but has also been rumored to be associating with high-ranking members of both the Penitus Oculatus and the Thalmor in secret.
As a descendant of a rich noble family, she has also been rumored to have bribed her way into the upper ranks of the Empire; although there are some who say her skill in battle is formidable, there are others who claim she gave orders from the backlines and hardly participated in any of the actual fighting. These claims could neither be proven nor disproven as most of her naysayers have reportedly already been imprisoned or outright eradicated by the Thalmor. Majority of the accusations which led to their summary execution included "Talos worship" and other shaky claims that cannot be substantiated as well.
Clearly a favored individual by both the Empire and the Thalmor alike, she was once noted to have been found with a large amount of Skooma in her possession, which would have led to imprisonment or a death penalty for most other Imperial citizens, but she instead got off with a gentle warning and a reminder to remove any and all contraband items from her household.
Whether she repeatedly used vast amounts of gold or her uncanny ability to easily enslave grown men by appealing to their base desires to climb the ranks is unclear, but due to oft-repeating rumours of similar fashion, few in the now weak and corrupt Empire dare to speak out against her out of fear of retaliation through false charges.
She has now come to Skyrim (undercover) to seek an end to the Stormcloak rebellion and further add one more accomplishment to her name. Luckily for her, she just so happened to cross paths with the chosen hero of this time: The Dragonborn.
