📋 About This Mod
Description
Update 1. 2: Fixed typographical error. Update 1. 1: Updated to include typographical fixes by KindredBrujah.
Adds 160+ new loading screens steeped in Tamrielic lore. Become deeper immersed in the Elder Scrolls mythos with tons of quotes from in-game books (from Skyrim and past Elder Scrolls titles), history, mythology, and little-known facts about the world of Tamriel.
These loading screen texts were carefully selected from the brightest minds in the Elder Scrolls lore community. They have been cautiously edited and verified to ensure the highest quality possible. These loading screens were all submitted by members of the Bethesda Forums Elder Scrolls Lore forum, and reddit.com/r/teslore community members. Without you, this mod would not be possible. You have my gratitude.
Installation
Just enable Chesko_LoreBasedLoadingScreens.esp, or activate within your respective mod manager.
Known Issues
Troubleshooting
If you don't immediately see the new loading screens when entering and exiting areas, be patient; there are a lot of default loading screens in Skyrim, some of which are biased to occur depending on where you are. Almost all of the new loading screens are conditionless, meaning they should have a chance of occurring anywhere.
Compatibility
Compatible with everything. Seriously! No existing loading screens were edited or altered in any way.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community favorite with nearly 20k endorsements and almost a million downloads
- Massive lore injection—160+ screens means you'll rarely see repeats
- Perfect for roleplayers who want every loading screen to teach them something new
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018—might not be fully compatible with the latest Skyrim Special Edition patches
- No screenshots or detailed previews in the description, so you can't see what you're getting before install
- Purely cosmetic—if you don't care about lore, this won't change your gameplay
For Elder Scrolls lore nerds who read every book in the game and want that knowledge reflected during load times. Also great for players who want to feel more connected to Tamriel's history. Skip if you're only interested in gameplay overhauls or faster load times.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're on Skyrim Special Edition, make sure to grab the SE version of this mod—the original may not work without conversion.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to install and easily disable if you ever want vanilla loading screens back.
- Pair with a lore-friendly UI overhaul to keep the aesthetic consistent.
