📋 About This Mod

I love the Hunterborn mod. But it lacks support for a LOT of creatures, especially if you use mods from Mihail, GG77, any of the many other creature and new-world mods, and so on.

The Hunterborn ZEdit Patch was good. REALLY good. But ZEdit struggles with large load orders and the Hunterborn ZEdit patch is hard to modify.

Now that we have Synthesis and Mutagen, we can make patchers that are far more powerful and flexible than ever before.

The Hunterborn ZEdit Patch cleverly uses Json plugin files to define new entries, using simple information like

  • []What is the name of this creature?

[]Is it an animal or a monster?

    []How big is it?

    []How much does it weigh?

[]How many pelts does it provide at each skill level (1-4)?

    []Does it have extractable venom?

[]What materials can be extracted from at each skill level (1-4) and what are their EditorIDs in the creation kit?

[]Does it have any inventory items that need to be removed (like pre-existing pelt items)

It helpfully generates new meat and pelt items for creatures not already covered by vanilla Hunterborn. And for pelts, it automatically generates recipes for converting them into leather (and autodetects CACO, and utilizes Hunterborn's soft-depenency on Complete Crafting Overhaul).

Piranha91 and myself (with considerable help from Noggog) are developing Hunterborn Extender, a synthesis patcher that will act as a modernized version of the ZEdit patcher. The beta is already available in Synthesis.

    Features:

    • []Runs in Synthesis!

      []Maintainable

[]Heuristic matching of creatures to plugins

[]Gui will allow correcting heuristic matches

[]Gui will assist with creating new plugins

      []Advanced Taxonomy power

The Advanced Taxonomy power is available as a prototype.

      • []Uses UIExtensions list menu to allow showing new creatures types as well as vanilla.

[]Without HunterbornExtender, Advanced Taxonomy can't distinguish some creature types - for example, 'Cave Bear' and 'Bear' are both listed as 'Bear'. But the regular Taxonomy power can't do that either.

      • If you have more than 127 plugin entries, you'll need the UIExtensions HugeList patch from Optional in the downloads section.

This is all still experimental so let us know how they work for you in the comments section and the bugs section.

But if you come here to complain about bugs in the mods that add the creatures, I will block you immediately. It is not our fault if some mod authors don't design their creatures well.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Hunterborn Extender is a Synthesis patcher that extends the Hunterborn mod to support new creatures added by other mods. It uses an advanced taxonomy system to integrate new animals into Hunterborn's hunting and harvesting mechanics. With 86 endorsements and 6,810 downloads, it's a niche tool for modded Skyrim players who want consistent hunting gameplay across creature mods.

✨ Key Features

Extends Hunterborn to work with new creatures via a Synthesis patcher
Uses an advanced taxonomy power to classify and integrate new creatures
Requires Synthesis patcher to generate compatibility patches
Last updated January 2023, indicating ongoing maintenance at that time

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solves a real problem: new creature mods break Hunterborn's harvesting, and this patches them in automatically
  • Solid community trust with 86 endorsements and 6,810 downloads
  • Synthesis-based approach means it's flexible and can adapt to your load order

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires Synthesis patcher, which is an extra tool not everyone has set up
  • Only works if you use Hunterborn and have creature mods that need patching—otherwise it's useless
  • Potential compatibility issues with mods that alter creature taxonomies or Hunterborn itself
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who run Hunterborn and have creature mods that add new animals, like Skyrim Immersive Creatures or Animal Series. If you're tired of new creatures not being harvestable, this is your fix. Skip if you don't use Hunterborn or don't add creature mods.
📦 Install:Medium· 10-15 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have Synthesis installed and set up before trying this—it's a patcher that runs outside the game.
  • Run the patcher after you've finalized your load order, and then place the generated patch at the end of your load order.
  • Check the Synthesis patcher's output to ensure it includes the new creatures you want to harvest.
