Regarding the Skyrim update

With the recent update to Skyrim Anniversary Edition (thanks Todd!), it looks like this mod, as with so many others, will need to be updated to the latest version of CommonLibSSE NG. I'll try to get that done over the next few days.

The purpose of this mod is mainly to support Skyrim VR, but it works fine with Skyrim Anniversary Edition as well. Also, the original version of Considerate Followers for Skyrim 1. 6.x has not yet been updated. If it doesn't get updated, it may fall to this version to support the new Skyrim Anniversary Edition, so I will be updating it.

In the meantime, if you're using a popular modlist, you're probably either downgrading Skyrim to 1. 6. 1170 anyway, or using a Wabbajack list in which case the downgraded files are already set up in ModOrganizer 2 and you don't have to worry about it. For those who actually let Steam update their installation of Skyrim and want to use this mod, I'll see if I can get it done soon.

Introduction

This is a version of Considerate Followers - Followers are Silent During Dialogue ported to CommonLibSSE-NG. It's main purpose is to support Skyrim VR. Like the original, it's primary function is to prevent followers from talking when you are in a conversation with an NPC, or when listening to another NPC speak. Credit to Shekhinaga for the original mod.

IMPORTANT

The current version has a known crashing issue with Skyrim 1. 5.x. Therefore, if you are running 1. 5.x, use the original Considerate Followers for 1. 5.

On the other hand, I've been using it for a while with Skyrim AE and Skyrim VR and have encountered no issues with the current version, and there haven't been any reports of issues from other users. Nevertheless, while it is feature-complete it should be considered a beta version, so use at your own risk. It's not like it's going to upload the contents of your private photos folder or anything, and as far as I can tell from testing it works at least as well as the original, but it's possible that I've introduced one or more new issues.

In particular, Skyrim VR required an architectural change to how this mod works that affects all versions of Skyrim (see below for more). This shouldn't cause any issues, in fact it might be an overall improvement, but it requires real-world testing.

Seriously, though. If you try it out, I'll appreciate it. But don't replace the original long-term, at least not yet (unless you're running Skyrim VR in which case there is no original). And I'd advise against including it in any published collections or wabbajack modlists for the time being. If in doubt, stick with the original Considerate Followers for 1. 6, or Considerate Followers for 1. 5, or Considerate Followers for the GOG version, depending on your Skyrim version.
