📋 About This Mod

I love Capitals and Towns of Skyrim, but the pathfinding could be a bit rough at times, especially in Dawnstar and Winterhold. I tried adding navcut boxes to the walls and a some of the new prop pieces and it worked perfectly, I haven't encountered any navmesh issues, even when doing Civil War quests in the minor hold capitals with Open Civil War.

Works with either the individual versions or the merged version of Capitals and Towns of Skyrim. (If you're using the individual versions, you need to be using all of the "Capital of x hold" plugins, otherwise you'll have a bunch of random navcut boxes everywhere where new objects should be. I personally use the standalone versions because I don't want to use the Village of Old Hroldan which is bundled into the full version of the mod. Either way it works with both.)

I obtained explicit permission from Symonson to release this a long time ago but am only just now getting around to doing so. There is no conflict with the Snow Fix by Suinier. All the patches on the original mod(s) should work fine too.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

This bug fix mod improves pathfinding in Capitals and Towns of Skyrim by adding navcut boxes to walls and prop pieces, resolving navmesh issues in Dawnstar and Winterhold. Works with individual or merged versions, requires all Capital plugins if using individual versions, and is compatible with Snow Fix and existing patches.

✨ Key Features

Adds navcut boxes to walls and prop pieces to fix pathfinding issues in Capitals and Towns of Skyrim.
Resolves navmesh problems in Dawnstar and Winterhold, including during Civil War quests with Open Civil War.
Compatible with both individual and merged versions of Capitals and Towns of Skyrim.
Requires all 'Capital of x hold' plugins if using individual versions to avoid random navcut boxes.
No conflict with Snow Fix by Suinier, and all patches for the original mods should work.
Released with explicit permission from the original mod author Symonson.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Directly fixes annoying pathfinding bugs in popular city overhaul mods (81 endorsements).
  • Works with both standalone and merged versions, giving flexibility in load order.
  • Author got explicit permission from Symonson, so it's a legit companion patch.

⚠️ Cons

  • If you use individual versions, you must have all Capital plugins or you'll get random navcut boxes everywhere.
  • Only addresses pathfinding, not other potential issues in Capitals and Towns of Skyrim.
  • Compatibility with other mods that alter navmeshes or add objects in the same areas is unverified.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who use Capitals and Towns of Skyrim and have noticed NPCs getting stuck or pathing weirdly in Dawnstar and Winterhold. If you're a completionist running Civil War quests with Open Civil War, this patch is a must-have. Skip if you don't use that mod or if you're fine with vanilla pathfinding quirks.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you're using the individual versions of Capitals and Towns, make sure you have every 'Capital of x hold' plugin active, or you'll see floating navcut boxes.
  • Load this patch after Capitals and Towns in your mod manager to ensure it overrides correctly.
  • Since it's a navmesh fix, it's safe to add mid-playthrough, but always test in Dawnstar and Winterhold to confirm NPCs path properly.
