Monster Hunter Wilds Vortex Extension

This extension adds Monster Hunter Wilds support to Vortex Mod Manager. Fluffy Mod Manager and REFramework will be installed automatically.

The Steam and Steam Benchmark Demo versions of the game should be automatically discovered. Other versions may need to specify the game folder manually when activating the game.

This extension will automatically download and install Fluffy Mod Manager and REFramework (for plugins and script mods).

You need to enable mods in Fluffy Mod Manager for complete installation! There is a tool included with the extension to launch Fluffy in the Dashboard tab. A notification will be shown after deploying mods with a button to run Fluffy.

🛠️ Mod Installation Notes:

• []Automatically installs Fluffy Mod Manager (FMM) and REFramework (for plugins and script mods). You must run FMM to install most mods into the game data archives. You will get a notification on each deployment reminding you of this.

  []Installs mods for FMM to the correct folder "Games/MonsterHunterWilds/Mods". Mods are re-zipped at install to maintain full compatibility with Fluffy to handle variants.

  []Installs loose .lua script files directly to "reframework/autorun" folder (Fluffy does not handle these mods correctly).

  []Installs mods with .exe files or a few select dlls directly to the game root folder.

  []Fluffy Presets (.prt) will be installed to "Games/MonsterHunterWilds/Presets".

  []For mods not to be used with FMM (upscalers, reshades, etc.), you will need to change the mod type to "Binaries / Root Folder" and unzip the mod in the staging folder. Then you can ensure the folder structure is correct for your mod.

  Q: Why does the extension integrate with Fluffy to Install Mods?

  A: Here are a few details as to why this choice was made:

  • []Most mod authors package their mods for Fluffy. Rather than "pushing against" the community and trying to create custom solutions, it seems better for the Vortex user to integrate with Fluffy and allow it to handle mod variants and install patterns. This avoids a lot of edge case install failures and avoids resorting to a less polished user experience.

    []A secondary requirement of using Fluffy properly is keeping mods in zip files. The Vortex extension must re-zip the mod files during installation to do this. This is usually very fast, but could take a short time for large file-size mods, depending on your PC performance.
