MO2 Keyword Tagger

Description

Mod names carry keywords: Wabbajack keeps any mod whose name starts with when a list updates, a number after the tag keeps those mods in the order you put them, say what a mod ships, and says a mod is a patch (MO2 Custom Filters lists every bracketed keyword automatically). MO2 Keyword Tagger is the one button that writes and removes them: press it and one window shows every rename it is about to make, and Apply does them in one pass.

and its number are the only prefix; every other keyword is a suffix after the mod's own name - 0001 Name on a NoDelete mod, Name on any other. Each keyword is its own choice in the dialog, and removing one removes only that link. The mod's own name is never touched.

This plugin replaces MO2 Tag Generator and MO2 Patch Tagger by the same author; if you have either installed, delete its .py and .png from the plugins folder.

Main features

- One window. A Keep / Add / Remove row for each keyword, the separator options, a preview of every rename (Now -> After) that updates as you change them, Apply, and the result in the same window. No chain of pop-ups. Each row is independent of the others and acts on every mod in the list.

Add / renumber: whatever is selected in the mod list, plus your own mods under a separator named "NoDelete" / "No Delete" / "" (any case) - press with nothing selected and every untagged mod under it gets the tag, and every tagged mod in the list is renumbered so the numbers follow the list. Remove tag and number from the selection or from every tagged mod. A separator is never renamed.

- One rename pass, not one rename per mod. Folders on disk, every profile's modlist.txt, then one MO2 refresh. Every profile list is backed up first to plugins\data\MO2KeywordTagger\backups. Each mod keeps its priority.

- Separator memory. Tagged mods remember the separator they were tagged under and can be moved back there.

- Drawn by your theme. The button has no styling of its own; it looks like every other toolbar button in whatever MO2 style you use.

Installation

- Copy plugins\MO2KeywordTagger.py and plugins\MO2KeywordTagger.png into your MO2 instance's plugins folder (next to the other .py plugins) and restart MO2. The button appears on the toolbar.

- Not a mod: do not install it with the mod manager into the mods folder.

- To remove it, delete the two files. Delete MO2 Tag Generator's and MO2 Patch Tagger's files if you had them - this one replaces both.

Debugging

Send Documents\MO2 Keyword Tagger\log.txt with any bug report: every rename, every backup path, and whether each mod kept its priority. If Mod Organizer itself closed, also send <your MO2 folder>\plugins\data\faults.log: the plugin arms Python's fault handler on start, so that file names the plugin and line that was running when MO2 went down.

Compatibility notes

Runs inside Mod Organizer 2, not the game, and works with any game MO2 manages. Do not run it alongside another indexer or another patch tagger on the same list - two tools writing the same names will fight. Works with MO2 Custom Filters (same author), whose Keywords tab lists every tag this plugin writes.
