MO2 File Explorer

Description

MO2's own filter box only knows mod names. MO2 File Explorer puts a second box in the empty space between the profile selector and the tool buttons, and that one knows everything: mods, plugins (.esp / .esm / .esl) and files inside mods. Type a word or two and a dropdown lists every match - which mod each plugin or file belongs to, and which separator it sits under. Pick one and the mod list scrolls to that mod, selected, with its separator expanded; a plugin pick also selects the plugin in the right-hand list.

Along the top of the dropdown sit tick boxes that narrow the results: which kinds to show, whether enabled or disabled mods count, and whether separators are listed too.

Main features

- Always there. An inline box in the profile row. Every word you type must appear - any order, any case - in a mod name, a plugin file name or a file's path, the same rule as MO2's own filter.

- Three kinds of result - mod, plugin, file - each with the mod it belongs to and its separator, up to 300, in load-order position.

- Tick-box filters: Mods / Plugins / Files, Enabled / Disabled, Separators.

- Pick to jump. Click a row, or Enter for the first one, or Down into the list: the mod list scrolls to the mod, selected, separator opened. Escape or a click elsewhere closes.

- Fast on big lists. Mods and plugins are indexed at once; files are indexed in the background a couple of seconds after start-up and after every refresh - about 210,000 files across 2,200 mods in two seconds.

- Writes nothing but its own log.

Installation

- Copy plugins\MO2FileExplorer.py into your MO2 instance's plugins folder (next to the other .py plugins) and restart MO2.

- Not a mod: do not install it with the mod manager into the mods folder.

- To remove it, delete the file.

Debugging

Send <your MO2 folder>\plugins\data\mo2-file-explorer.log with any bug report: index sizes and every jump. A mod hidden by an active filter cannot be scrolled to; the log says so.

Compatibility notes

Runs inside Mod Organizer 2, not the game, and works with any game MO2 manages. It adds one box to the profile row and a dropdown under it; MO2's own widgets are untouched. Files inside BSAs are not indexed, only loose files. Pairs well with MO2 Custom Filters; a mod hidden by any active filter is out of the list, so a jump to it cannot land until the filter is cleared.
