MO2 Custom Filters

Description

A big mod list has a hundred separators and MO2's filter pane knows nothing about them. MO2 Custom Filters adds two tabs beside MO2's own filters: Separators, one entry per separator in list order, and Keywords, which fills itself from two places: every written in square brackets anywhere in a mod name becomes an entry automatically, and the keywords you configure are listed too. Only one keyword is configured out of the box - - so on a fresh install the tab shows plus whatever bracketed tags your mod names already carry. Tick an entry and the mod list shows only its mods; tick again and it inverts (everything but those); a third click clears it. Tick as many as you like - MO2's own And / Or switch decides how they combine - and they stack on top of whatever MO2's filters and search box already show.

Every entry carries a count, and so does every one of MO2's own filters: <Active> (2032), <Conflicted> (826), <Contains Plugins> (1216), each category. Every tab has a search box at the bottom - MO2's own Filters tab included - so a long list of separators or categories is one word away.

MO2's own filters keep working exactly as they did, in the first tab; only their bottom row is rearranged to make room for the search box (the Filter / Show / Hide separators dropdown moves up beside Clear and Edit). The plugin writes nothing but its own two settings and a small log; delete the file and it is gone.

Main features

- Separators tab. Every separator in the profile, in order, with how many mods sit under it. Three-state ticks like MO2's: include, invert, off.

- Keywords tab. Two kinds of entry: automatic ones - any in square brackets found in a mod name, listed with its brackets, no setup needed - and configured ones, which you add from the tab's right-click menu (right-click empty space to add; right-click one you configured to edit or remove it). A configured keyword is listed even when no mod carries it yet; an automatic one appears and disappears with the mod names. is the one configured keyword shipped by default. Leading words ("test", say) can be made keywords in the plugin's settings.

- A search box on every tab, MO2's own Filters tab included, that narrows the entries shown.

- Counts on MO2's own filters - the whole profile, tallied the way MO2 decides each filter.

- Plays by MO2's rules. Combined by MO2's And / Or, cleared by MO2's Clear buttons, drawn with MO2's own tick pictures so they match your theme, re-applied whenever MO2 re-sorts or refreshes the list, and rebuilt on every refresh so a renamed mod (MO2 Patch Tagger's ) shows up at once.

Installation

- Copy plugins\MO2CustomFilters.py into your MO2 instance's plugins folder (next to the other .py plugins) and restart MO2. The tabs appear in the Filters pane on the left.

- Not a mod: do not install it with the mod manager into the mods folder.

- To remove it, delete the file.

Debugging

Send <your MO2 folder>\plugins\data\mo2-custom-filters.log with any bug report. It records what the plugin did - tabs added, ticks, counts, anything it could not do. If Mod Organizer itself closed, also send <your MO2 folder>\plugins\data\faults.log: the plugin arms Python's fault handler on start, so that file names the plugin and line that was running when MO2 went down.

Compatibility notes

Runs inside Mod Organizer 2, not the game: it has no effect on Skyrim, your saves or your load order, and works with any game MO2 manages. MO2's own filter widgets are kept (only regrouped), so MO2's saved filter state, its Edit categories dialog and its And / Or / separator options work unchanged. Any theme MO2's own filter list works with works here. The only thing another plugin could collide with is the Filters group box itself; no such plugin is known.
