📋 About This Mod
Retro Rewind - Gimme my money back - QoL
What it does
Changes the refund you receive when selling objects via the moving box (default key K).
The game natively pays out 50% of the purchase price. This mod scales that payout to the ratio configured in
config.lua, defaulting to a full 100% refund.
Requirements
- []UE4SS v3. 0. 1[/]
Installation
-
[]Copy the Gimme my money back - QoL folder into your UE4SS
Mods directoryRetroRewind\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods[/
][]Load your save.[/]
[]Pick up any object as a moving box.[/]
[]Press K to sell it.[/]
Configuration
Scripts/config.lua
sellRatio = 1. 0, -- fraction of the purchase price you receive back
Debug = false, -- set to true for verbose console output
sellRatio | Payout
0. 5 | 50% — game default (no change)
1. 0 | 100% — full refund (mod default)
0. 75 | 75% — three quarters
1. 5 | 150% — selling at a profit
Values above
1. 0are valid but not recommended for normal play.
sellRatioto exactly
0. 5makes the mod a no-op (hooks stay passive).
How it works
The game's sell chain runs through:
MovingBox_C:Init Sell
which calls:
Core_Gamemode_C:Change Money
with a hardcoded
0. 5factor.
There is no writable property available to override this factor directly.
The mod therefore uses a capture-and-top-up approach:
-
[]A pre-hook on
Change Moneycaptures every positive credit (amount + timestamp).[/
]Init Sellcallback fires immediately after the sale.[/]
[]The captured credit is validated (within 250 ms).[/]
[]The mod calculates the difference to the configured ratio.[/]
[]A separate top-up payment is issued through
Change Money[/]
The top-up runs on the next game-thread tick via:
ExecuteInGameThread
As a result, players will see two entries in the transaction log (for example
$75 + $75instead of
$150), while the final balance remains correct.
Notes
-
[]Two bookings: The native payout and the top-up are separate transactions. This is intentional and cannot be avoided without engine-level access to the hardcoded factor.[/]
[]Aborted sales: If a sale is blocked (for example because an object is not empty), no payment occurs and no top-up is issued.[/]
[]Negative top-ups: Setting
sellRatiobelow
0. 5deducts money after the sale. Negative values are handled natively by
Change Money[/]
[]Save reload: Internal state is reset whenever a save is loaded via a WeatherSystem:ReceiveBeginPlay hook.[/]
Compatibility
-
[]Tested on game build 1994+[/]
[]No known conflicts with other mods[/]
[]Safe to add or remove during an existing playthrough[/]
