📋 About This Mod

Lots of Chapter 2 saves out there.

Why pick this one?

Some details on the save, to aid your decision:

- All Gold medals for the Chapter 1 missions, done first time of asking. This is important because it means that your O'Driscoll and Wolf kill count won't be artificially inflated by mission replays. Yes, this is a thing in this game.

- O'Driscoll in the barn, and guards at the train all spared.

- Everyone in the camp spoken to after the second mission, and again after the third mission (This is, for some reason, absolutely vital to me)

- The two missable letters collected. It blows my mind that some 'complete' fresh chapter 2 saves don't have these collected.

- I did not pick up the premium cigarette pack on the train. This means that your quest log is free of the cigarette card task until you choose to start it, your inventory is clean of cards, and your compendium is cigarette card free (the compendium must be minimal, because of reasons I cannot properly explain)

So, after completing Eastward Bound and collecting its very easy Gold medal, you get to enjoy the initial camp interactions that cannot be kept with an immediate chapter 2 save (For example, getting Dutch's pipe request, speaking to Micah and Lenny, seeing the Kieran and Sadie interaction), and be safe in the knowledge that the chapter is truly as fresh as it is possible to be.

You'll never be forced to traipse through the snow again.

There is also an additional file - a 50% minimalist, 50% completionist, 100% OCD save for those who want to spare themselves the initial annoyances when restating.

This one is as above, and Eastward Bound gold medal too.

- Everyone at camp interacted with while they are still there (Lenny, Micah), and Dutch's pipe request obtained, as it is missed for chapter 2 otherwise.

- Pearson's rabbit request completed and jacket obtained. I completed it because I had to give him a rabbit anyway, so two birds one stone (two tasks one rabbit?)

- Arthur's books collected, Dutch's speech notes collected.

- Horse is level 4 bonded. I rode the free Tennessee Walker in camp, so the compendium entry is completed.

- $50, 3 valuables, and 5 carcasses donated, completing the 'other' legend of the east satchel requirements that can be done at this point.

- In Valentine, the public hanging observed. This is 1 random encounter of 3 done. Varmint Rifle purchased.

- Thomas Downes interacted with and the Charity Handbill obtained. This is the 1 Ranters, ravers... entry completed.

All fairly standard so far

- I've completed the 3 timed events. Castor's Ridge Father and Sons house building, Appleseed Timber Company logging, and the Central Union Railroad building.

In the case of the railroad, obviously the foreman was helped each time and the 2 x $50 collected. For Appleseed, the injured man was given $5, the wolves were killed, and the Bucket Hat was obtained sneakily. All events were visited at every single stage.

The reasons for doing these are:

- The Castors Ridge event starts automatically and can time out, so it needed completing.

- The Appleseed Timber event, I wanted to give the father and sons lumber rather than pay them. I also wanted to ensure the Bucket Hat was obtained, and also the wolves were needed.

- The Railroad, I just thought given the other two were finished I may as well. Additionally, I really hate having to be careful of my wandering in case these get triggered, so its always a tedious task finishing them before anything else, with all the waiting and sleeping needed. Now, I (and you) don't have to. All events completed 'properly' and honourably.

- I've obtained the pelt requirements for the Legend of the East satchel.

I have meticulously avoided almost everything getting these pelts. Minimal exploration, no triggering of m

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 269 endorsements and over 25k downloads.
  • Meticulous attention to detail—missable letters and clean compendium show real care.
  • Preserves early camp interactions that other saves skip, like Dutch's pipe request and Kieran/Sadie scene.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only one save file—if you want multiple slots, you'll need to manage backups yourself.
  • Requires you to play through the first mission of Chapter 2 to get the full benefit, which might not suit everyone.
  • Compatibility risk with mods that alter save files or Chapter 1 progression—always test with your mod list.
🎯 Is This For You?
For RDR2 players who want a truly fresh Chapter 2 start without missing content, especially completionists who care about gold medals and missable items. Also great for those who want to experience early camp interactions without replaying the snowy prologue. Skip if you don't mind replaying Chapter 1 or prefer a save that skips straight to free roam.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Place the save file in your RDR2 save folder (Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Profiles/your profile ID) and back up your existing saves first.
  • After loading, play through 'Eastward Bound' to trigger the camp interactions—don't skip it.
  • If you use mods that alter save data, test this save with a fresh profile to avoid conflicts.
