Sperry Track Inspection

Summary

I've always been a fan of the Sperry Rail Service and Maintenance-of-Way equipment. This mod was mostly done for 'fun' or 'roleplay' purposes, but it did end up providing some utility:

  []the curve-rating of locomotive you can safely take 'at speed' through a curve[/]

  []the total run in feet of a siding (section of track between switches) considering fouling distance[/]

  What it does

  ------------

  When the mod is enabled and a car is marked as "instrumented," the vanilla

  Toggle Tags callout (typically the Tab key to show car tags) gains a

  "SPERRY RAIL SERVICES" appendix: track and geometry readouts in dense rows.

  Any number of rolling stock can be instrumented; they are listed in

  srs-settings.xml inside this mod folder.

  Requirements

  ------------

  - Railroader with Unity Mod Manager (UMM).

  - Install this mod via UMM and enable it in the mods list.

  Quick start

  -----------

  1. Launch the game with the mod enabled (UMM).

  2. Select a supported car in the world (click your consist).

  3. Press Ctrl+F10 to open the Unity Mod Manager overlay.

  4. Choose "Install SRS instrumentation on selected car" for each car you want.

  5. In game, use Toggle Tags so the tag overlay is visible for that car; the

  SRS block appears under the normal tag text.

  Instrumentation is saved automatically to srs-settings.xml (next to Info.json).

  Use "Remove SRS instrumentation from selected car" for one car, or

  "Clear all instrumented cars" to wipe the list.

  Supported rolling stock

  - Diesel locomotive

  - Passenger car

  Other car types show a rejection reason in the mod settings window.

  Persisted settings

  ------------------

  File: srs-settings.xml

  Format: root <SrsTrackInspectionSettings version="2"> with one element

  <InspectionLoco id="..." display="..." /> per car.

  Older saves with version omitted or "1" still load as a single-car list.
