Locomotive Audio EQ

This mod is currently not actively developed/supported. It may not be compatible with new mods, loaders, and versions of Railroader. Use at your own risk.

What does it do?

Adds a 5-band equalizer for locomotive audio:

• []Diesel: prime mover engine audio

  Works with all engine sounds and all vanilla and modded locomotives[/]

  []Steam: exhaust chuff audio

  Works with all steam locomotives[/]

• []Enable the mod in Unity Mod Manager.[/]

  []Select an owned locomotive.[/]

  []Open Customize → Sound tab.[/]

  []Diesel: click Prime Mover EQ (below Prime Mover Audio if that mod is installed).[/]

  []Steam: click Chuff EQ.[/]

  []Adjust sliders while the locomotive is under load and nearby so you can hear changes.[/]

Orange labels in the EQ window show tooltips when you hover over them (labels underline on hover). The panel scrolls if needed; drag the bottom-right corner to resize the window. Your size preference is remembered.

Controls

[]Master (−18 to +18 dB): Shifts all bands together (louder/quieter without changing relative tone when offsets are zero).[/]

[]Band sliders (80 Hz, 250 Hz, 1 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz): Shape tone relative to master. Neutral = 0 dB on all sliders.[/]

[]Wide / Narrow (W / N): On the Master row, W and N set every band at once. On each frequency row, W and N set that band only.[/]

[]Static EQ and Notch Volume sections are labeled (dB); slider readouts show numbers only (for example +3. 5 or −2. 0).[/]

[]Slider changes are heard live while dragging. Settings are saved when you release the slider (except during Compare Edits — see below).[/]

[]Compare Edits: Toggles between your current unsaved edits and the reference snapshot (settings when you opened the window, or after Apply to This Loco). The button stays disabled until your settings differ from that reference and you release a slider (it does not enable while you are still dragging). Picking a preset in the dropdown alone does not enable it — use Apply to This Loco first, then edit and release a slider. While listening to reference, sliders and preset controls turn cyan and lock; an orange status line appears under the button. Click Compare Edits again to restore your edits. Use this to A/B test changes by ear without losing work in progress.[/]
