Improved Graphics

Main Changes

• Made TAA (Pattern 11) the only available anti-aliasing option.

• Increased shadow map resolution. This improves shadow quality and eliminates shadow shimmering at a distance (although slight shimmering can still be observed in the Talos I Lobby).

• Disabled both global blur and motion blur. The only remaining blur comes from TAA itself.

• Improved lighting. Lamps, spotlights, the sun, and other light sources now produce more pronounced light rays, further enhancing the interplay of light and shadow throughout the game.

• FOV now automatically adapts to widescreen displays (16:9, 21:9, and 32:9). Users with 16:10 displays should install the optional 16:10 Adaptation.

• Removed the 144 FPS cap during gameplay when VSync is disabled. FPS remains capped in the main menu.

TAA Edge Shimmering

TAA Edge Shimmering Example

When TAA is enabled, shimmering may be visible along the thin edges of certain objects. The following options can be used to reduce this effect:

1. Set the refresh rate to 50 Hz, disable VSync, and limit FPS to 100.

2. Set the refresh rate to 60 Hz, disable VSync, and limit FPS to 120.

3. Set the refresh rate to 100 Hz and limit FPS to 100.

4. Set the refresh rate to 120 Hz and limit FPS to 120.

If the monitor supports VRR (FreeSync or G-Sync) and runs at 100 Hz or higher, there is no need to change the refresh rate.

Installation

1. If Prey has already been launched on this PC, delete game.cfg from:

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey (Steam and GOG versions) or

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey_Epic (Epic Games Store version)The paths above can be pasted directly into the address bar in File Explorer.

2. Copy the files from the Improved Graphics archive into the game directory, overwriting the existing files.

3. For 16:10 displays, copy the files from the 16:10 Adaptation archive into the game directory, overwriting the existing files.

• Mooncrash is also supported.

• Opening the Video's settings menu (where screen resolution and VSync are configured) causes the game to reset some of the mod's graphics parameters. Therefore, restarting the game is recommended after opening the Video's settings menu, even if no settings were changed. This issue can also occur with other graphics mods, such as Prey Remastered Luma and Real Lights plus Ultra Graphics Mod.

• The mod was tested on a GPU with 8 GB of VRAM. GPUs with less memory may experience graphical issues.
