📋 About This Mod

See what an unopened container will hold if you open it today, tomorrow or in a few days. Hover to see item icons and regular item tooltips; such containers are marked on the map.

Loot Forecast

Know what's inside before you open it.

How loot works in Pillars of Eternity

Many containers in the game don't have fixed contents. Their loot is rolled from a loot table the first time you open them, and the roll depends only on the container's location and the current day of the month. The result changes at midnight, and since a month has 20 days, the same day of the next month gives the same result. Once a container has been opened, its contents never change again.

In other words: if you don't like what a chest offers today, you can come back another day. This mod simply shows you what each day will bring.

Features

  • []Forecast on hover — point at an unopened container to see its contents for today and the next days (3 by default, up to 10).[/]

[]Real item icons — the same icons as in your inventory; stacks are shown as ×N.[/]

[]Best first — within each day the items are ordered by worth: named gear first, then enchanted, then expensive, with ingredients and stacks last. Handy when a container holds more items than fit comfortably in a row.[/]

[]Regular item tooltips — hover over an icon to get the standard in-game tooltip, just like in the inventory.[/]

[]Map markers — containers with random loot are marked with an icon (only in explored areas; hidden while game windows or dialogues are open).[/]

[]Named gear filter — optionally mark only the containers that can actually yield named equipment (things like Stalker's Torc or Bracers of Enduring). Plain, Fine and Exceptional gear, coins, gems, potions and scrolls don't count: you can buy those or take them off enemies. Named items are the ones you can only get here, and only on the right day.[/]

[]Game-styled window — the background and font are taken from the game's own tooltip.[/]

[]English and Russian — labels follow the game language.[/]

[]Exact, not a guess — the mod runs the game's own loot roll with the same seed the game will use. The game's random generator is restored afterwards, so nothing in your game is affected.[/]

    Options

    (Ctrl+F10 → Loot Forecast)
    • []Enable / disable the forecast[/]

      []Days ahead (1–10)[/]

      []Icon size[/]

      []Game-styled window[/]

      []Markers on/off and marker size[/]

[]Only containers with unique loot — when enabled, ordinary containers are neither marked nor shown on hover[/]

[]Marker sprite name (leave empty for automatic choice; all candidates are listed in the UMM Log.txt)[/]

      Notes

      • []Opening a container also locks in the contents of nearby containers (the game's area looting). To plan for another day, pick a container with no other containers close by.[/]

[]Not covered (they use a different, truly random generator): herbs and other pick-up nodes, store restocking, the Caed Nua stronghold chest.[/]

[]Containers with fixed, hand-placed contents are not marked — they never change.[/]

[]«Named gear» is detected by the item's enchantments, which is how the game itself tells a one-off item from a mass-produced one. A Fine or Exceptional sword is deliberately not treated as rare.[/]

        Requirements

        • []Pillars of Eternity 3. 9.x (Steam / GOG)[/]

          []Unity Mod Manager 0. 23 or newer[/]

          Installation

          • []Install Unity Mod Manager for Pillars of Eternity.[/]

[]In UMM: Mods → Install Mod → select LootForecast.zip.[/]

            []Start the game.[/]

            Uninstall

Disable or remove the mod in UMM. The mod does not modify game files or save games — it is safe to remove at any time.

            Compatibility

Should be compatible with other UMM mods. It does not replace any game files.
