📋 About This Mod
This mod fixes DOT (Damage Over Time) calculation bugs in the game.
Have you ever wondered why the Wall of Flame spell is so underwhelming? It could be because the spell is actually lying to you: It never scales with your Might, even though the description says so. Neither does it scale with the Scion of Flame talent, nor the racial slayer talents. It will always do that base 5-8 fire damage regardless of how buffed you are.
Many other DOT effects† have similar scaling bugs that this mod fixes.
What exactly does this mod fix?
-
[] Wall spells now correctly scale with the caster's Might and talents
[
] All other DOT effects (that already scaled with Might) now correctly scale with the caster's talents as well[] All DOT effects now count the damage for the caster's personal records
[] Wall spells cast by your party no longer get a 25% damage penalty on Story Time
[] Wounding Shot, Runner's Wounding Shot, Wounding enchantment and Enduring Flames durations no longer scale with Intellect or hit quality
[] This fixes the issues where having higher Int was a disadvantage (see the wiki notes), and lesser quality hits being better (especially for Enduring Flames, where each damage tick is separately affected by DR)
[] Status effects caused by Wall spells now correcly scale with the caster's Intellect
[] Damage and status effects caused by consumable traps and priest's Seal spells now scale with Might, talents and Intellect
-
[] While these are not DOTs, this is a side effect from fixing Wall spells, which are handled by the same code as traps
How is this mod different from UPMod, which also fixes DOTs?
- [
[] UPMod doesn't fix wall spells
[] UPMod doesn't fix Wounding enchantment, Wounding Shot and Enduring Flame durations
[] UPMod speeds up potion animations by 233%, which I find a bit OP (I never had issues with the vanilla speed)
[] UPMod uses Patchwork, which replaces entire method bodies. This means that if Obsidian has updated any of the UPMod-patched methods since its release, those updates would be completely overwritten by UPMod's older reference code. This mod uses Harmony, which dynamically transpiles the code at the IL instruction level for much better compatibility.
Install using Unity Mod Manager (0. 32. 2 or later)
Compatibility:
-
[] Compatible with the latest game version 3. 9. and the previous version 3. 8.
[
] Kind of compatible with UPMod, if you want the domination/invisibility/TTH fixes from that. Not thoroughly tested, use at your own risk.[] Damage applied to enemies should be correct, but DOTs will be counted twice for the personal records
Known issues:
-
[] Wall spells can now make the caster complain that the damage is ineffective, even if it's not
† Even though walls, rays and pulsing AOEs are technicallly not DOTs, I'm calling them that anyway, since they do constant damage and have a duration.
