Stair Handrails

The finishing touch for your stairs.

Give your staircases proper matching rails. Stair Handrails adds seven fence-style handrails shaped for Palworld's straight stairs, with automatic selection of the left or right side. Aim at the side you want and build using the normal controls.

Optional Diagonal Buildables compatibility

The optional Diagonal Buildables Compatibility Patch adds support for Rynfri's Diagonal Buildables 1. 4. Use the same seven handrail entries on its completed upward and downward stairs, with automatic left/right selection and the normal build controls.

For the manual/Nexus installation, install Stair Handrails 1. 0. 2 and Diagonal Buildables first, then install the optional patch after Handrails. Diagonal Buildables is required only for this optional patch. The main Handrails download continues to support ordinary straight stairs without it.

The patch accounts for the wider diagonal stair edges and the lower, reversed origin of downward pieces. It includes no Diagonal Buildables assets and creates no new saved building IDs. Curved stairs, unrelated custom stairs and altered target geometry remain outside its scope.

Placement, walking collision and save/reload were player-confirmed in the tested local single-player setup. Other material combinations and multiplayer/dedicated-server gameplay have not all been verified.

Seven material families

Wooden, Stone, Metal, Glass, Japanese, Futuristic and Ancient. Each has its own build-menu entry in the matching material section of Foundations, with a small staircase badge on the fence icon.

The same rail entry works on either side of a staircase. Sloped rails follow the native stair pitch and meet ordinary fences at the landings.

Unlocks and build costs

Rails unlock with the corresponding Structure Set. Purchase that technology; reaching its level alone is not enough. Costs match the material family's ordinary fence.

  These are Palworld 1. 0. 4 values. Other mods may change progression. Ordinary flat fences keep their own recipes and unlocks.

  How to place a rail

  • []Build a normal straight staircase.[/]

    []Choose the stair rail from an unlocked material family.[/]

    []Aim directly at the stair treads or edge, near the left or right side you want.[/]

    []Let the preview align and use the normal build control.[/]

    No extra hotkey is needed. If an aligned preview says "Not placed on the ground", move your aim onto the stairs. Normal placement checks still apply.

    Requirements and installation

    Requires a compatible UE4SS build for Palworld and Pal Schema by Okaetsu. Dependencies are not bundled.

      []Extract the entire download into the Palworld game root, the folder containing Pal and Palworld.exe. Merge Pal and replace matching files.[/]

      []Launch and choose a rail from a Structure Set you have unlocked.[/]

      Copy all included files: PAK, schema data and icon resources, and the Lua helper. The result should be Palworld/Pal, not Palworld/Pal/Pal.

      Also available on Steam Workshop. Steam Handrails 1. 0. 3 includes automatic optional Diagonal Buildables compatibility; Workshop users do not need this manual patch.

      Pairs with AutoSnap Vanilla Fences

      AutoSnap Vanilla Fences is an optional companion for the ordinary flat fences at your landings. Those vanilla fences already support snapping through the game's hotkey; AutoSnap makes it automatic. Stair Handrails provides its own stair alignment and does not require AutoSnap. Less Restrictive Building is also optional.
