1. 02 Update
-
[]Fixed an issue that caused crashes after Palworld 1. 04 update.[/]
[]Enhanced the visual effects for Ignis Rage. The flames now flare up to match the expanded hitbox. See picture #4[/]
[]Resolved an issue where Flame Funnel sound effects were missing. Slightly toned down its visual effects.[/]
1. 01 Update
-
[]The power and cooldown of adjusted skills are now displayed correctly. Skill names and tooltips remain in their vanilla state.[/]
[]Replaced Flame Funnel with a Fire-attribute beam skill instead of Fire Ball. Fire Ball has been rolled back to vanilla for now and will be reworked into a different skill in a future patch.[/]
[]FPS drops seem to be somewhat mitigated, but still investigating. Test results revealed that another mod caused this issue. Better Fire Skills itself does not cause any FPS-related issues![/]
Description
Fire elements boast charming Pals and great type coverage, but Fire-type skills fall significantly short. Both in practice and by in-game data, generic Fire skills lag behind other elements in DPS and hitboxes. For instance, despite sharing code/file paths with the Water-type Skill Geyser Gush, Ignis Rage has far worse hit detection and targeting, creating a clear DPS disparity. Other generic Fire skills like Flame Wall and Flame Funnel are similarly outclassed by their counterparts in other elements.
This poor performance among generic skills leaves Fire Pals without strong exclusive moves sidelined in the endgame. The goal of this mod is to buff generic Fire-type skills, correcting the mid-to-late-game performance lag across all Fire Pals.

Key Changes
[]Flame Funnel: While its base power looks high on paper, its actual performance felt underwhelming. It has been reworked into a single-target beam skill, mirroring the hitbox and DPS of Thunder Rail. Instead of a simple fireball, it now fires three powerful beams of flame.
[]Flame Wall: Previously inferior to its Water counterpart, Curtain Splash, in both usability and DPS. It now borrows the visual effects of the unreleased Fire skill Flare Twist, with DPS and hitboxes balanced around Apocalypse. Like Sand Twister, it easily misses smaller Pals, but delivers outstanding performance against large bosses.
[*]Ignis Rage: Geyser Gush boasts excellent DPS against large Pals thanks to its tall hitboxes and generous aim assist that centers the water pillars on targets. In contrast, Ignis Rage was visually flashy trash—hampered by frustratingly low hitboxes that only hit the ground and a complete lack of aim assist. It now adopts Geyser Gush's hitboxes, making flames erupt upward like a volcano. Highly effective against medium to large Pals.
Known Issues
The power and cooldown of modified skills are displayed correctly starting from version 1. 01, but skill names and descriptions still follow the vanilla specifications
