Description
Tween Menu for Oblivion brings the tween menu idea from Skyrim's Tween Menu Overhaul to The Elder Scrolls IV:
Oblivion Remastered. Press one button and the game's own menus are laid out around the centre of the screen in
four directions - Character and Quests up, Inventory to the right, Map and Wait down, Magic to the left. Pick one
and the game's own menu opens, exactly as its own key would open it.
The menu is built from the game's own pieces: the brown boxes and the text style of the Controls page, with no
background behind them, so it looks like part of the game rather than something laid over it.
Generative AI disclosure: this mod's code, its translations, this page's text and its banners were produced with generative AI (Claude), directed and tested in game by the author. The page is tagged accordingly.
Main features
- Six menus on one button. Character, Quests, Inventory, Magic, Map and Wait, in four directions. Each opens
through the game's own input action, so the game's own rules for that menu still apply.
- It follows Wait. The tween menu opens on whatever key and button the Controls page gives Wait - Select
(View) on a controller and T on the keyboard out of the box - and Wait becomes one of its options. To move the tween
menu, rebind Wait on the Controls page. Your saved controls are never edited.
- Controller and keyboard. The D-pad or left stick moves, A opens, B or the tween button closes; on the
keyboard the arrow keys move, Enter opens, Backspace or the tween key closes. While the menu is open the game does
not see the controller, so nothing you press in the menu also happens in the game.
- Start opens Save & Load. The Start (Menu) button opens System on its Save & Load page instead of the Character
page, and System always opens there rather than on the page it was last left on. Both can be switched off in the
- Eleven languages. The option names follow the game's language: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish,
Polish, Czech, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
- Light. The menu is built once, the first time it opens, and then only shown and hidden. While it is closed
the plugin reads the tween button each frame and re-checks the Wait link a few times a second (one pass over the
game's default key-mapping list) - nothing is drawn and nothing is polled beyond that.
Installation instructions
- Install with your mod manager, or drop the archive's contents into the game folder: everything goes under
OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\OBSE\Plugins\ (the DLL, its INI, and a folder with the translations). Mod
Organizer 2 users need Root Builder, as for every OBSE plugin.
- Start the game through OBSE64. Without it the plugin is not loaded at all.
- Requires OBSE64 and Address Library for OBSE Plugins.
Debugging
Fastest route: the Apocrypha Realm Modding Hub on Discord - post in the forum
matching your report (bug-reports, feature-requests, patch-requests, mod-conversion-requests)
and attach the log; submissions there feed the pipeline directly.
Send the log for any bug you find:
Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\OBSE\Logs\TweenMenu.log
It is written at info; set uLogLevel=0 in TweenMenu.ini to capture everything, then reproduce.
The debug symbols (.pdb) ship inside this download, so a crash log names this plugin's functions.
Requirements
| OBSE64 | Nexus page | 0. 2. 2 or newer |
| Address Library for OBSE Plugins | Nexus page | the database for your game version (1. 512. 105 tested) |
Compatibility notes
Built for and tested on Oblivion Remastered 1. 512. 105 (Steam) with OBSE64 0. 2. 2. No game file is replaced and
nothing is added to the load order. The plugin changes key mappings in memory only: it moves Wait's keys to the tween
menu and puts Start on System each time the game (re)applies its saved controls, and never writes your settings or
your saves. Removing it mid-playthrough is safe - Wait and Start are back on their own buttons at the next start.
Another mod that also changes what Select, T or Start do in the game's default key mapping will compete with this
one for those buttons. Rebinding Wait on the Controls page moves the tween menu out of the way.
