📋 About This Mod
A corner minimap for Oblivion Remastered, drawn from the game's own local map, with the game's compass riding along. Any corner, square or round, markers for locations, doors, quests and enemies, and every option live on an in-game settings
Description
Minimap Menu puts a minimap in a corner of the HUD and draws it from the game's own local map - the same capture, with
the same wall and edge lines, that the Map screen shows. It is drawn around you at all times, indoors and outdoors, and
turns with the camera or stays north-up.
The game's compass can ride with it: sized to the minimap's width, under it at a top corner and over it at a bottom
corner, with a gap you set. The location banner can follow it the same way. Every option is on a settings page of the
Apocrypha Menu Framework and applies while you play.
The positioning and controls are carried over from Dragon's Eye Minimap for Skyrim: four corners with their own
nudge each, a size capped at a quarter of the screen, tap to hide, hold to pan, and a zoom key.
Generative AI disclosure: this mod's code, its translations, this page's text and its banners were produced with generative AI (Claude), directed and tested in game by the author. The page is tagged accordingly.
Main features
- Any corner. Top right by default. Each corner keeps its own nudge (0 sits flush with the screen's edges), and
the size is capped at a quarter of the screen.
- Square or round, with a brown frame in the game's map ink, and an opacity setting.
- The game's own local map. Its map capture and its edge-detection material, drawn around you indoors and
outdoors - or, if you prefer, only what the Map screen's local map already holds, over the game's parchment.
- Markers from the HUD compass. Locations and doors with the game's own map icons, quest targets in gold (held
on the rim when they are beyond it), and enemies in red, placed from where they stand so they stay put while you
- The compass and the location banner follow the minimap, sized to its width, below it or above it, with a
gap that can go negative to tuck the compass right against the frame. HUD Position Manager steps aside for them
while the minimap places them.
- Keys. K taps to hide or show the minimap and holds to pan it with the mouse; L switches between the two zoom
levels. A controller button can do the same tap and hold - none is bound out of the box (the right stick click is
the game's target lock); bind any button on the page with its press-to-bind listener. All keys are rebindable.
- Light on the frame rate. The map is captured at most once a second, never while the world is loading or
settling after a cell change, markers are moved only when they change, and nothing is redrawn while a menu is open.
- Eleven languages on the settings page.
Installation instructions
- Install with your mod manager, or drop the archive's contents into the game folder: everything goes under
OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\OBSE\Plugins\ (the DLL, its symbols, its INI, and the page's translations in the
framework's translation folder). Mod Organizer 2 users need Root Builder, as for every OBSE plugin.
- Start the game through OBSE64. Without it the plugin is not loaded at all.
- Requires OBSE64 and Address Library for OBSE Plugins; the settings page needs the Apocrypha Menu Framework (without
it, MinimapMenu.ini still applies).
Debugging
Fastest route: the Apocrypha Realm Modding Hub on Discord - post in the forum
matching your report (bug-reports, feature-requests, patch-requests, mod-conversion-requests)
and attach the log; submissions there feed the pipeline directly.
Send the log for any bug you find:
Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\OBSE\Logs\MinimapMenu.log
It records the layout, each map capture and its cost, and where the compass and banner were placed. It is written at
info; set uLogLevel=0 in MinimapMenu.ini to capture everything, then reproduce.
The debug symbols (.pdb) ship inside this download, so a crash log names this plugin's functions.
