📋 About This Mod
This is a port of the original Oblivion mod Simple Imperial City Lighting Expansion created by zzyma. I edited the mod, fixed a few errors and converted the records with Haphestia's Fix and Port Script.
Original mod description:
This mod adds many streetlights all around the Imperial City to improve the lighting and atmosphere of the Imperial City at night. Vanilla Imperial City lighting is rather limited and leaves much of the streets dark at night, only lights around gates and sometimes near the middle of the street but rarely lights anywhere else. This mod expands the street lighting of the districts of the Imperial City with streetlights all placed in places that make sense for them to be there and don't get in the way of anything. The result i find is quite refreshing and really makes the city feel more alive.
I removed streetlights from the Imperial City Waterfront because they had clipping issues and didn't look good overall.
Update 1. 1:
Removed 2 streetlights from Tamriel worldspace to Improve compatibility with Lumiere. Credits to chrisgreely1999 for pointing out this compatibility issue. (1. 0 users can still use the patch provided here).
Performance friendly:
I tested this mod on my 2017 gaming beast with a Ryzen 5 1600x and Vega 56 and didn't notice any change in performance, so I'm pretty sure that this mod will work perfectly on the vast majority of setups.
Installation:
Drop IC-Streetlights.esp into Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data folder
Use plugin manager or edit Plugins.txt file located in the same data folder and add IC-Streetlights.esp line to the bottom of the list
Huge thanks to zzyma for Simple Imperial City Exterior Lighting Expansion and open permissions for it.
This mod adds nearly 200 streetlights around the Imperial City to improve lighting in areas that were previously dark. It's a performance-friendly, simple addition for Oblivion players who want better visibility without heavy graphical overhauls.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Adds a ton of lights (almost 200) to make the Imperial City feel more alive and easier to navigate at night
- Performance friendly, so you won't tank your FPS just to see where you're going
- Solid community backing with 158 endorsements and over 43k downloads — people clearly like it
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in May 2025 — might not be compatible with the latest Oblivion patches or other lighting mods
- Only affects the Imperial City exterior, so if you want better lighting elsewhere, this won't help
For Oblivion players who want a quick, performance-friendly lighting boost in the Imperial City without overhauling the whole game. Skip if you're looking for comprehensive lighting changes or play heavily modded with conflicting overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since there are no install instructions, just drop the mod files into your Oblivion Data folder and activate it in the launcher or mod manager.
