📋 About This Mod

A simple OBSE64 plugin that shows the alchemy effects on HUD when looking at a plant or ingredient.

It supports two operation modes: can append the list with alchemy effects to the text that is displayed for the item under the crosshair (the default option), or can trick the game into thinking the player is looking at a locked door, the effects being displayed as the lock level (^_^). See the screenshots. See the Configuration section and Settings Overview article for more details.

Since v1. 3. 0 the mod can also show the first few items from a container or dead actor. See the second screenshot.

Doesn't make any permanent changes and can be installed and uninstalled anytime without any side effects.

Installation

Nothing special, install it like any other OBSE64 plugin:

Extract the archive into the Oblivion Remastered game folder. Or extract the included files into the

STEAM_LIBRARY\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\OBSE\Plugins folder. Or use a mod manager.

Just make sure the game is launched by running obse64_loader.exe.

Configuration

The mod reads the settings from a file named AlchemyEffectsOnHUD.ini from the same folder as the DLL. The file is created automatically if missing. With the default values the popup looks like in the first screenshot. See the Settings Overview article for more details. Especially for RequiredKey, InvCountInName, OpMode and ContainerItemsCount options.

For the second screenshot I used the following settings, plus the optional UE4SS script.

InvCountInName = true

ContainerItemsCount = 6

ContainerMoreItemsText = "•••"

EffectNamePrefix = "« "

EffectNameSuffix = " »"

Optional UE4SS script

A very simple Lua script that hides the LOCK icon and centers the text under the name when OpMode is 1.

Requires v1. 3. 0+ and, obviously, UE4SS.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community support with 121 endorsements and over 6,700 downloads
  • Recent update (August 2025) means it's actively maintained
  • Saves time by letting you see plant effects without opening menus

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires OBSE64, so it won't work with the original 32-bit Oblivion executable
  • Limited to HUD display—no other UI overhauls or features
  • Potential compatibility issues with other HUD mods or UI overhauls
🎯 Is This For You?
For Oblivion players who want to streamline alchemy by seeing plant effects at a glance. Also handy for those who want a quick peek inside containers without rummaging. Skip if you're on the original 32-bit version or prefer a more comprehensive UI mod.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you're running the 64-bit version of Oblivion and have OBSE64 installed correctly before adding this mod.
  • If you use other HUD mods, load this one after them to avoid conflicts.
  • Test the container preview feature on a few containers to see if it suits your playstyle.
