📋 About This Mod
Ever got annoyed by the long-lost relatives strange rumors and curious letters you get delivered as soon as you leave the prison sewers? This is a patch for the official plugins that stops them from starting automatically. Now you need to do certain things to start the quests. This also serves as rebalancing-fix, because the progress of the more rewarding plugins is delayed until you have established yourself in the associated guild. Changes: ----------- Horse Armor ----------- In the Imperial City Market District, go to the Feed Bag tavern. Snak gra-Bura\'s note is an insert in a newspaper on a table there. ------ Orrery ------ To start the quest go to the Arcane Academy and talk to Bothiel. ------------- Wizards Tower ------------- You get the deed from JeanneFrasoric after completing Bruma\'s Mages Guild initiation quest. The Magetallow Candles (=the altars) won\'t be available until Jeanne Frasoric is dead. ----------- Thieves Den ----------- Get imprisoned in Anvil and look for a loose stone behind one of the beds. A former prisoner left a note there... When the den is yours, your rank in the Thieves Guild Rank determines whom you can hire: Bandit: Supplier Prowler: Fletcher Cat burglar: Security Expert and Spymaster Shadowfoot: Fence -------------- Mehrunes Razor -------------- Do the \"The Wandering Scholar\" quest for Anvil\'s Fighter\'s Guild. At the end of the quest you get the information on Varsa Baalim. (includes fix for unclean modification of Daedric Waraxe) ------------- The Vile Lair ------------- Finish the 5th Dark Brotherhood quest (\"The Assassinated Man\") and you\'ll be visited in the following night...
A patch for Oblivion's official plugins that prevents the 'long-lost relatives' quests and letters from starting automatically. Instead, you must manually trigger them. With 175 endorsements and over 6,500 downloads, it's a niche fix for players who want to control when those quests begin.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 175 endorsements and 6,577 downloads
- Solves a specific annoyance that many players share
- Lightweight patch that doesn't alter gameplay beyond quest triggers
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2008 — may be incompatible with newer game versions or mods
- Only affects the official plugins' quest triggers, so it's a very narrow fix
For Oblivion players who are tired of being bombarded with letters and rumors right after escaping the sewers. If you want to start those quests on your own terms, this is for you. Skip if you don't mind the automatic quest starts or if you're playing with mods that overhaul the official plugins.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have the official plugins installed (e.g., Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isles) for this patch to work.
- If you're using a mod manager like OBMM or Wrye Bash, install this patch after the official plugins to ensure it overwrites correctly.
- Since the mod is from 2008, test it early in your playthrough to confirm it works with your current setup.
