📋 About This Mod
Auto equips and unequips shield or arrows when drawing or sheathing weapon. =====REQUIRES OBSE========= There are other mods of this type available, I know. However, there\'s an issue with doing a script of this type on ammunition (arrows). It\'s not a bug with the other mods, it\'s more something that the game engine was not designed to handle. The problem comes in using player.itemequip on an arrow - it only equips one at a time. This is fine, until you pick up or loot another arrow of the same type. Normally, if you have 1 arrow equipped/readied and, for instance.. 5 in your inventory.. and you loot another arrow of the same type, you\'ll have 2 arrows equipped and 5 still in the inventory. Still, this is fine. The problem comes when you fire an arrow while you\'ve got more than one readied - the game engine will delete whatever\'s left in your inventory. You\'ll be left with 1 arrow equipped and 0 waiting in bags to be used. This mod adds a workaround to that problem - it keeps a current count of your arrows and returns any that are deleted to you. When you first activate this mod, you will be given a lesser power that will allow you to configure the script. After you choose a setting, you must equip your shield and weapon, then sheath the weapon, to save the setting. The same goes for arrows, you must ready your bow, then equip a stack of arrows, then \"sheath\" your bow. This mod will not track and auto switch arrows for you - if you actually burn through all of your arrows of one type, you will need to open your inventory and select another type of arrow. Fair warning: this is very much in beta stage. Please let me know if you encounter issues, it was a learning experience for me to build this as it is. I would like to give credit to Yumetsubasa for his mod that inspired me to create this one.
Auto Equipper automatically equips and unequips your shield or arrows when you draw or sheathe your weapon. It's a simple utility for players who want to streamline their combat prep. With only 9 endorsements and a 2010 update, it's an old, niche mod with limited community validation.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Saves you from fumbling through menus every time you pull your weapon.
- Simple concept that does exactly what it says—no bloat.
- Works for both shield and arrow setups, covering two common playstyles.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2010, so it's likely outdated for modern game versions.
- Only 9 endorsements means it's barely tested by the community.
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter equipment or combat behavior.
This is for players who hate manually switching gear in the heat of battle and want a hands-free solution. It's also for those running older setups who don't mind a dated mod. If you're on a modern version, you might want to look for a more recent alternative.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check if your game version matches the mod's era—this is from 2010, so it may not work on newer patches.
- Test it with your current load order to see if it conflicts with other combat mods.
- If you use hotkeys for sheathing, make sure they don't interfere with the auto-equip trigger.
