📋 About This Mod
Ambidextrie - v0. 44 05/04/08 ----------- by Loup Sombre EDIT: I\'ve been warned that the Yellow box problem come from the activation of the Add-on esp. This is explained in the readme, but it seems it may be confusing: The file \"Add-on for Ambidextrie.esp\" is a modder ressource, DO NOT activate it unless you have edited it to add custom weapons. Ambidextrie modify the way you can handle weapons. First, any weapon of the game can be handled with the left hand as if it was a shield. Then, according to the weapon, you can handle it in an alternative way: 2 handed weapons become 1 handed, daggers and short swords are reversed, etc. Optionally you can chose whether you want to automatically put your left hand weapon in its sheath or your shield on your back when you sheath your weapon. This version of the mod doesn\'t support fighting with the left weapon as it is still a work in progress feature, the main purpose of this release is more aesthetic than fun. The mod fully works only with weapons of vanilla Oblivion and the official plug-ins, but the steps to add custom weapons are given in the readme. Installation: ------------- Put the Data folder and Ambidextrie.esm in ..\\Oblivion\\ and activate the plug-in in the launcher. Do not activate the Add-on esp, it is a modder ressource (explainations on how to use it are given in the readme). WARNING: Oblivion Script Extender v14 or higher is required to use this plug-in (download it here: http://obse.silverlock.org/). Now you will have to launch the game using OBSE launcher. Ambidextrie works with Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine but they are not required to use the plug-in. Use: ---- At the first launch, the mod ask you to chose keys to handle a weapon in the left hand, to change the way you handle the right weapon and to access the menu later. When pressing the first key, the weapon in your right hand goes in your left hand if you are agile enough (you need your Agility to be 2 times higher than the weight of the weapon). It becomes a \"shield\", its armor rate depending on the damage of the weapon, your blade or blunt skill and your light or heavy armor skill (according to the weight of the weapon). When pressing the second key: - 2 handed weapons become 1 handed if you are strong enough (you need your Strength to be 2 times higher than the weight of the weapon). Damages of the weapon are slightly decreased. - Longswords, 1 hand axes and maces become 2 handed. Damages are slightly increased. - Daggers and shortswords are reversed. - Staves become 2 handed blunt weapons, their enchantments are disabled. - Bows become 1 handed blunt weapon. Furthermore, you can use both functionalities on the same weapon: you can handle a 1 handed claymore or a reversed dagger with your left hand. Then the mod ask you whether you want to automatically put your left hand weapon in its sheath or your shield on your back when

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Adds a unique combat mechanic that changes how you approach weapon loadouts.
- Decent community traction with 168 endorsements and over 8.5k downloads.
- Lightweight and focused—doesn't overhaul the whole game, just adds flexibility.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2008—likely incompatible with modern game versions and patches.
- Description is cut off, so you're flying blind on full feature list and install details.
- No clear documentation on how the agility requirement works or how to trigger the swap.
For veteran players who want to experiment with unconventional combat styles and don't mind tinkering with an old mod. Skip if you're on a current version or expect polished, modern mod support.
💡 Beginner Tips
