📋 About This Mod
What is this Mod?
Nada has done some research and learned how to make some improvements to your Galaxy Navigation Interface! His mod makes several changes to the Star Map (a.k.a. Galaxy Map). Oh! And don't forget that Polo helped, too. :)
- Adds some variance to the minimap orbital placement
- Increases the speeds of most of the movements that can be made within the star map
- 50% size increase to Icons
- Changes the Red, Green, Blue, and Purple star colors so that they are more distinct, and easier to tell apart, especially the Blue and Green stars. Depending on the type, this has also proven useful for some people with colorblindness! (and also for regular people trying to see through brightly colored nebulae)
- Significantly speeds up the transition times when leaving or entering the starmap
- Changed some intro logo fade timings, just for dramatic effect
- Zooming very close to a star will hide its info panel
Philosophy
I made this mod just because the map felt sluggish, the green and blue stars looked the same, and the orbits being essentially identical made different star systems look too similar. The mod has no effect on gameplay that could be considered cheating in any way.
The mod generally focuses on better visibility in the Galaxy Map.
Known Side-Effects

About Available Versions
MBINCompiler used to pack it will match the mod version number. Any older mod that is no longer compatible with the current version of No Man's Sky will be demoted to the "Old Files" subsection, but will remain available for download. If I have missed one, please tell me.
This means that any mod files which are not hidden or demoted to the "Old Files" area can be expected to work.
MBINCompiler versions exactly match the version of No Man's Sky that was current when the MBINCompiler was made. In other words, MBINCompiler version = NMS version. This fact can be used to figure out which Legacy mods work with which Legacy versions of No Man's Sky.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 857 endorsements and over 34k downloads
- Solves a real problem: telling star types apart at a glance
- Lightweight UI mod that won't affect performance
⚠️ Cons
- Only recolors four star types—other colors like yellow and orange are untouched
- No screenshots or detailed preview in the description, so you can't see the new colors before installing
- Last updated in May 2026—may not be compatible with future game patches
For No Man's Sky explorers who spend time in the galaxy map and want to quickly identify star systems without squinting. Perfect for players who rely on star colors for farming specific resources or finding rare systems. Skip if you're happy with the default starmap colors or want more extensive UI overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Back up your original starmap files before replacing them, just in case you want to revert.
- If you use other UI mods, check for conflicts—this mod only touches starmap colors, so it should be compatible with most.
- After installing, launch the game and open the galaxy map to see the new colors immediately.
