📋 About This Mod

Description

If you are playing with an ultra-wide (21:9) resolution, a black rectangle can be seen whenever any fade-to-black or fade-to-white effects occur (e.g. loading a cell or save). This is caused by the fade effect not being large enough to cover the entire screen.

This mod provides an engine fix for the bug, without breaking the fade-to-black and fade-to-white effects.

An example of the bug can be seen here:

For a version which also fixes menus and scope being too zoomed in, as well as other engine fixes and improvements see lStewieAl's Tweaks.

Removes the black rectangle on screen when loading into areas at 21:9 resolution
Engine-level fix, requires NVSE
Simple installation, no configuration needed

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 322 endorsements and over 212k downloads
  • Directly solves a common annoyance for ultrawide users
  • Lightweight engine fix, no performance impact

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2020, may not be tested with the latest game patches
  • Requires NVSE, so not for vanilla purists
  • Only addresses the loading screen black box, not other ultrawide UI issues
🎯 Is This For You?
For ultrawide (21:9) Fallout: New Vegas players who are tired of the black rectangle during loads. Essential if you play at that aspect ratio. Skip if you're on standard 16:9 or don't use NVSE.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure NVSE is installed and you launch the game through NVSE's loader, not the default launcher.
  • Place the DLL in the Data\NVSE\Plugins folder; if it doesn't exist, create it.
  • If you use a mod manager, you can install it like any other mod, but manual placement works too.
