📋 About This Mod
Following my previous vault suits retexture, this is my second mod in what will hopefully become a series. This mod retextures leather armor and its variants from the ground up, also using Luxor's normal maps to help complete the look. The size of these textures are 2048x2048 for diffuse maps, and 1024x1024 for normals (double the original texture resolution).
The armors covered are:
-
[]Leather Armor
[
]Leather Armor, Lightweight (Courier's Stash)[]Leather Armor, Reinforced
It should work for the gecko backed variants from Honest Hearts as well, as I believe these use the same textures as the defaults. And just like the last mod, you can use this mod in Fallout 3 as well to cover the standard leather armor featured there.
Installation Instructions: Simply drag 'n' drop the 'textures' folder into your New Vegas 'Data' folder, or install with a mod manager.

[]luxor8071, who graciously allowed me to use their normal maps from Fallout 3 HD Overhaul to help cover armors that are shared between Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Thanks!
[]Upscayl, which I used to fill in the gap for the Reinforced armor's normals, where luxor's textures couldn't be used. This is an open source project which seems to be free even for commercial use, but I'm including the credit in case anyone wants to try it out.
[]3Dassets, a library of royalty free PBR textures I used as a base for my textures. If you're interested in texturing yourself, then this site will be very helpful. Check out their CC0 (completely royalty free) textures here.

A vanilla+ 2K retexture for leather armor, lightweight leather armor, and reinforced leather armor in Fallout 4. With 614 endorsements and 319k downloads, it's a popular choice for players wanting improved visuals without straying from the game's aesthetic. Last updated in September 2023.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 614 endorsements and 319k downloads—clearly a go-to for many.
- Vanilla+ approach means it blends seamlessly with the base game's look.
- Covers all three leather armor variants, so you get consistent quality across the board.
⚠️ Cons
- Only a retexture—no mesh changes or new models, so don't expect shape alterations.
- Last updated in 2023, so it might not be tested with the latest game patches.
- No screenshots or detailed description, so you're flying blind on the exact visual changes.
For Fallout 4 players who want a subtle, high-quality upgrade to leather armor without straying from the vanilla aesthetic. Perfect for modders who prefer lore-friendly enhancements. Skip if you're looking for new armor models or major overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager—no load order worries.
- If you use other texture mods, install this one last to ensure it overwrites conflicting files.
- Check the mod's comments section for user screenshots if you want to see the textures before installing.
