📋 About This Mod
Toxicology! adds a dedicated Toxicology skill to that is governed by intelligence and specialised under Stealth, letting poison-focused characters apply harmful potions to all types of weapons as lasting coatings!
Vanilla allows the player to brew harmful potions, but doesn't really let you do anything with them other than drink them yourself... Whilst there are other mods out there for both MWSE and OpenMW that allow the player to apply these harmful potions to their weapons, I wanted to take it a step further!
Enter Toxicology!
That being: a fully realised feature-rich poison mechanic, complete with variable weapon-coating charges, layered poisons, perk unlocks, poison-hit and harmful-brew XP, UI feedback, and optional distribution of existing harmful potion records into merchants and containers!

Toxicology adds a dedicated custom poisoning skill for OpenMW, giving poison-focused characters their own progression path and UI-supported skill identity. It's a niche gameplay mod for players who want to specialize in poison builds without relying on vanilla skills.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a real gap for poison builds—no more shoehorning into Alchemy or Destruction.
- UI-supported skill identity means it feels like a native part of the game, not a hack.
- Small but active community (61 endorsements) and solid download count (6.5k) show demand.
⚠️ Cons
- Only 61 endorsements—still a niche mod, so expect limited community feedback.
- Requires OpenMW—no help if you're playing on the original Morrowind engine.
- No documentation or install instructions provided by the author—you're on your own for setup.
For Morrowind players who love poison-themed characters and want a proper skill to build around. If you're on OpenMW and tired of vanilla skills not supporting your assassin or alchemist fantasy, this is for you. Skip if you play on the original engine or don't care about poison builds.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running OpenMW—this mod won't work with the original Morrowind executable.
- Check the mod's forum or comments for any load order advice, since the author didn't include instructions.
- Test the skill in a new character to see how it integrates with your UI before committing to a long playthrough.
