📋 About This Mod

Throwing! adds a new custom Throwing skill for throwing weapons in OpenMW. This custom skill is governed by Speed, specialised in Stealth, and progresses when you hit enemies with thrown weapons.

Throwing! provides this weapon class with its own proper combat identity: faster releases, stronger close-range damage, fatigue-damaging staggers, and a inbuilt perk ladder built around fast paced, close ranged combat!

Requires:

Stats Window Extender (OpenMW)

Skill Framework (OpenMW)

Features:

  • []A brand new custom skill utilising the power of Ralts' Skill Framework![/]

[]Adds Throwing, a new custom skill governed by Speed and specialised in Stealth. Marksman XP is redirected to the Throwing skill for all relevant weapons.[/]

[]Thrown weapons release slightly faster than vanilla (toggleable) [/]

[]Close-range damage bonus: Thrown weapons hit harder at short range. (toggleable) [/]

[]Close-range throws can apply a stagger effect, giving thrown weapons a short-range disruption role. (toggleable) [/]

[]Perk ladder: Throwing skill unlocks perks at set intervals, inspired by TES IV:[/]

[]25 — Critical Hit: thrown attacks gain a chance to deal bonus critical damage. [/]

[]50 — Double Tap: thrown attacks gain a chance to hit twice. [/]

[]75 — Bleed: thrown attacks gain a chance to apply a short bleed effect. [/]

[]100 — Paralyze: thrown attacks gain a chance to briefly paralyze the target.[/]

[/]

Every effort has been made to ensure Throwing feels like it belongs naturally in vanilla, to that end it includes all of the support you'd expect from a vanilla skill:

Characters with Stealth-specialised classes receive a +10 starting Throwing bonus. Skill books are added (see readme for detail on which ones), and the following races also gain racial bonuses:

[]Khajiit: +10[/]

[]Bosmer: +10[/]

[]Redguard: +5[/]

[]Dunmer: +5[/]

[]Naga: +10[/]

[]Cathay: +10[/]

[]Cathay-raht: +5[/]

[]Dagi-raht: +10[/]

[]Ohmes: +10[/]

[]Ohmes-raht: +5[/]

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Fresh take on combat skills—thrown weapons finally get their own spotlight.
  • Small but dedicated following (48 endorsements) shows it's got a niche appeal.
  • Active development—last updated June 2026, so it's likely kept current.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 48 endorsements—this is a niche mod that might not be on everyone's radar.
  • Requires OpenMW—won't work on vanilla Morrowind, so check your setup.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want to specialize in thrown weapons without dipping into Marksman. If you're a purist who likes the original skill tree, this might not be for you.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind engine—this mod won't work otherwise.
  • Back up your save before installing, just in case the new skill affects existing characters.
  • Check the mod's forum or comments for any known issues, since the description is sparse.
